Job Summary

Aptive is seeking a Program Manager to support federal clients, preferably in the field of strategic communications and marketing. In this position, you will have overall responsibility for the management of a large-scale program, encompassing multiple projects, with experience in managing a total lifecycle budget of $30+ million. Tasks may include planning, initiating, managing, executing, and closing out small- and large-scale programs in support of the Department of Veterans Affairs mission related to healthcare innovation and learning. Experience in overseeing a mid-size communications and event team is ideal.

This senior-level, full-time position is located in Alexandria, VA. This is a remote position but may require attending meetings in person. Some additional travel to events may be required. This is a contingent hire position.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Program Manager and primary contact for federal clients.
  • Support project staff providing administrative support to on-board/off-board staff as required.
  • Oversee and track contract financials on an ongoing basis.
  • Oversee a team of 10+ staff, including subcontractors.
  • Manage strategic communications, creative, outreach and event deliverables.
  • Execute innovative best practices, processes, standards, and procedures that focus on new and emerging healthcare solutions and technologies.
  • Duties include developing plans, initiatives, and evaluating communications and marketing efforts and small to large scale outreach events.
  • Responsible for effectively executing the intent of project and agency objectives through understanding project needs and tailoring work to meet those needs.
  • Responsible for demonstrating exemplary strategic communication and problem-solving skills with business owners, peers, management, and contract staff. Responsible for making all operational and staffing decisions.
  • Responsible for adhering to all contractual timelines and overseeing that all contract tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Employ creative thinking to formulate goals and objectives and integrate them into a cohesive project implementation approach to satisfy customer mission requirements.


Minimum Qualifications

  • 8 years of management experience with a master's degree or 10+ years of management experience with a BS/BA degree.
  • Experience in leading multidisciplinary communications and marketing teams in organization transformation, modernization and/or healthcare innovation preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
  • Consulting experience supporting large, complex Cabinet-level federal agencies.
  • Skills and experience in project management, strategic communications, marketing, and engagement support services.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong multitasker, preferably related to communications and event management.
  • Familiarity with collaboration tools, including Teams and Zoom.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
