Summary

Serves as an Administrative Assistant in a Flight Standards functional area. Incumbent will be responsible for providing administrative support on assigned programs and management functions. Incumbent will support the office by ensuring administrative processes function smoothly and effectively. May work as a team member on various projects.

Duties

Incumbent will provide essential administrative and operational services in support of assigned organizational unit or sub organization. Provide advice and guidance to management on varying fiscal and administrative matters. Apply basic knowledge and understanding of management principles, practices, methods, and techniques.

Provide and secure the resources or services needed to support the assigned organization. The work involves direct assistance to a supervisor who has the primary responsibility for the direction of the established organization to accomplish the mission. As the office Administrative Professional, the incumbent is responsible for examining current office practices and policies and recommends improvements. Keep staff current on procedural changes. Interprets new or modified administrative directives and disseminates information. Provide advice and assistance on all issues pertaining to various administrative programs.

Coordinate and compose standard operating procedures in conformance with current guidelines. Ensure travel orders and associated travel documents are prepared accurately and comply with regulations. Analyze needs and prepares requests for supplies and equipment. Coordinate with Human Resources to obtain guidance on staffing needs, and other offices on logistics and property management for the office. Assist in determining budget requirements using basic budget and financial principles and techniques. Manage the office Government Vehicle Program. Provide administrative support for the office OSHA programs.

Coordinate with the manager and/or other employees as needed to complete tasks. Work under instructions provided by the manager. Established policies/procedures provide guidance for most assignments. Refer problems and issues to a manager or more experienced professional.

Contacts are with management and staff employees within the Flight Standards office to coordinate work assignments. Periodically interfaces with other lines-of-business and external stakeholders to coordinate activities, or complete work assignments.

Incumbent will perform basic but progressively more difficult assignments under close direction of a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced professional.

Performs additional duties as they are assigned.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position at the FV-F (FG/GS 5-9), you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least three years of progressively responsible general experience that demonstrates the ability to analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, recognize solutions, plan and organize work and convey information, with at least one year equivalent to the FG/GS-4 level. Such experience may have been gained in administrative, professional, technical, investigative or other responsible work. Experience in substantive and relevant secretarial, clerical or other responsible work may be qualifying as long as the work experience provides evidence of the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position.

Education

Education substitution for FV-F: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree, gained from an accredited college or university.

Schools must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Foreign education must be evaluated by a private professional organization specializing in interpretation of foreign education credentials or an accredited US. educational institution in terms of equivalency to a degree acquired at an American college or university. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for all grade levels for which both education and experience are acceptable.
