Director of FinanceGeorge Mason University's College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS), invites applications for the position of Director of Finance. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.Position Summary:Reporting to the Chief Business Officer, the Director of Finance will lead the college's efforts in high level financial planning and forecasting with a three to five year outlook. The Director will oversee the financial operations for the college, develop analyses on college and department spending, track metrics, and make recommendations for resource reallocations.Responsibilities:Develop multi-year budgeting plans that are aligned with strategic goals. Build modeling for use of foundation funds and assist departments in modeling use of foundation/indirect funds. Work with departments and administrative units on budget to actual analysis. Make recommendations to the Chief Business Officer on changes to resource allocations;Oversee the day-to-day management of fiscal operations. Establish and maintain effective financial management systems, tools, and reporting for timely, comprehensive decision making. Regularly review forecasts and budget to actual analysis; create and analyze part-time (adjunct) budget allocation methodology; and track actual spending in correlation with enrollment;Assist research center directors and administrators with budgeting and forecasting by developing a model to include various funding streams and timelines. Provide analysis on college return on investment in research centers;Supervise Finance team to include organizing workflow;Provide financial reporting for current programs, and develop models for new programs; andDevelop performance metrics for departments and research centers, to assist in measuring efficiency and resource allocation.Required Qualifications:Master's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience;Significant progressively responsible financial management and analysis experience;Experience navigating and creating reports from financial management systems;Experience overseeing financial operations for a complex organization; andProficiency in working with computer applications and information systems, including Microsoft Excel.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with financial analysis in higher education; andSupervisory experience.
