Program Operations and Public Relations SpecialistThe George Mason University School of Business Research Partnerships group, invites applications for a Program Operations and Public Relations position. In addition, this position will support the Center for Assurance Research and Engineering (CARE), a research to practice cybersecurity research and emerging technology center with technical, policy and leadership, and governance projects and initiatives. CARE also has international partnerships in Asia, Europe, Latin America, and Africa.Responsibilities:This Program Operations and Public Relations Specialist will be responsible for contributing to overall day-to-day operations of Research Partnerships and CARE, including public relations, event planning and coordination, and financial administration/reporting. This position will be assigned a wide range of responsibilities, including:Create, plan, and execute integrated marketing/branding plans with measureable results and promotion strategies targeted at the maximum reach of stakeholders;Oversee external media relations to achieve favorable and frequent coverage and contribute to building relationships with industry writers and reporters;Write and edit all types of communication (including, but not limited to, marketing materials, speaker bios, e-mails, newsletters, etc.), and propose and assist with the systematic testing of new ideas;Plan and coordinate events, to include driving attendance to events, booking venues, and managing on-site activities;Manage social media presence and implementation of social media plans;Assist with financial reporting and administration including monthly financial reports and procurement; andAssist with research project administration.Required Qualifications:Demonstrated experience (three to five years preferred) in university or other customer service-oriented environment;Background and experience in using social media to promote programs and increase awareness;Exceptional customer service skills and good communication skills;Experience and background working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment; andBackground and capability with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Preferred Qualifications:Experience in planning and coordinating events; andExperience and ability to engage well with a variety of industry and government stakeholders.
