Job Announcement
Directs and oversees the daily circulation transactions on the Fairfax County Public Library's (FCPL) integrated library system (ILS). Manages FCPL's public and staff computer related projects, including personal computer replacement, express checkout, time, and print management and point of sale systems. Assists with planning, troubleshooting, and implementing new and existing library technology related projects. Supervises information technology staff. Serves as back-up to Systems Manager. Performs other duties as may be assigned to further the goals and objectives of FCPL.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:

Bachelor's degree in business, computer science or a field related to the department where the information technology services are being used; plus, two years of experience analyzing business processes and/or developing/maintaining the main business system, technical platform, or a related system.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
One to two years of experience with integrated library systems (ILS), self-checkout systems, time and print management systems OR point of purchase systems. Supervisory experience. Strong customer service skills and experience managing multiple priorities, tasks and managing projects with competing deadlines, and operating in a team environment with shared responsibilities. Must have a high level of interpersonal skills and the ability to successfully collaborate with team members.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Driver's license (required)
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check and driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Physical requirements are applicable to all duties. Ability to input, access, and retrieve information from a computer. Ability to lift up to 15 lbs. Must communicate with others.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle. Ability to travel to various locations throughout and outside Fairfax County to provide coverage, attend meetings and trainings. All duties may be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.

- Analyzes business operations;
- Studies, researches, and conducts cost/benefit studies evaluating existing or proposed systems;
- Assists in the preparation of short- and long-range information technology plans;
- Prepares performance measure reports;
- Conducts discussions with agency representatives to review, evaluate, and analyze existing systems;
- Defines problems and information processing requirements;
- Recommends procedural and operating improvements;
- Identify needed automation support;
- Administers specialized departmental systems; performs day-to-day maintenance of systems;
- Identifies and tests system enhancements;
- Evaluates system performance and makes recommendations for increased efficiency;
