Summary
This position is the Deputy Assistant General Counsel (DAGC) for Operations, principal assistant to the Assistant General Counsel (AGC), who serves as the primary advisor to the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsels on matters involving a broad range of operational issues related to the Department's policies and programs. The DAGC will participate with the highest officials of the Department to resolve problems within the Office's subject matter expertise and to prioritize its work.

(1) Be a graduate of an accredited law school with a LL.B., J.D., or equivalent AND at least four (4) years of professional legal work experience.
(2) Be an active member in good standing of the bar in a state or territory of the United States or the District of Columbia or Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following are:

Duties
The Supervisory Attorney-Adviser (General):
- Working closely with the Assistant General Counsel for Operations, the Supervisory Attorney assists in the supervision and management of office personnel, and legal work related to the Department of Transportation's operational matters, including information management, privacy, disclosure, and security, environmental matters, security and emergency response efforts, aviation and airports issues, maritime law, Native American sovereignty and jurisdiction, the Freedom of Information Act, oversight of the Department's programs by the Inspector General, Government Accountability Office, and Congress, and safety matters.
- Working closely with the Assistant General Counsel for Operations, the Supervisory Attorney will participate with the highest officials of the Department in the resolution of problems in these areas by providing legal advice, conducting research, providing recommendations to program personnel and counsel, including the General and Deputy General Counsels, and representing the Department in conferences with other Departments and Agencies of the Federal Government, State, local and tribal governments, and public groups with respect to these areas of law.
