Primary Purpose

We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented professional to join our Finance team as a Senior Manager, Payroll. This pivotal role will report directly to the VP, Corporate Controller and provide overall oversight of the payroll function. As payroll is aligned under the accounting function at Emmes, the Senior Manager, Payroll will play a critical role in managing not only the payroll of internal staff but also client project-related resources, ensuring accurate timesheets and expenses to maintain timely ADP and paycheck cycles and align with revenue accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Payroll Process Oversight: Provide overall supervision of the payroll function, including processing, reconciliation, and reporting for internal staff and client project-related resources
  • ADP and Paycheck Cycles: Oversee the timely processing of payroll in collaboration with ADP, ensuring that paychecks are accurate and delivered on schedule
  • Payroll Related Tax Filings: Manage the ADP payroll employee related tax filings process
  • Project Resources Payroll: Manage payroll processes for client project-related resources, ensuring compliance with project billing requirements and revenue recognition principles
  • Timesheet and Expense Management: Ensure that timesheets and expenses are accurately recorded and updated in a timely manner, verifying their alignment with project activities
  • Payroll Compliance: Monitor payroll compliance with applicable labor laws, tax regulations, and company policies
  • Payroll Reporting and Analysis: Generate payroll reports and analytics, providing insights to finance leadership and supporting financial decision-making
  • Payroll Process Improvements: Identify opportunities for streamlining payroll processes, implementing automation, and enhancing efficiency
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with HR, project teams, and accounting to ensure smooth communication and coordination in relation to payroll activities
  • Internal and External Audits: Assist with payroll-related audit requests, providing necessary documentation and ensuring compliance with audit requirements


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • 10+ years of relevant experience with proficiency in handling payroll and payroll related transaction volumes
  • Experience using both Deltek Costpoint and Microsoft Great Plains ERP systems is highly desirable
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices, including month-end and period-end closing procedures
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in payroll and payroll related reports
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and assist in internal and external audits
  • May travel between corporate locations
