Westat is seeking an experienced technical manager with strong skills in full stack development using modern technologies to be part of our software engineering team and bring innovative solutions to our public health and clinical research group.
This position is eligible for a hybrid or remote work arrangement (U.S. based).
Job Responsibilities:
• Responsible for overseeing the technical management of multiple applications. This includes directing the efforts of business analysts, developers, and testers to implement requirements. Additionally, tasks involve creating and reviewing system designs, evaluating developer code, and collaborating with internal and external end users to validate changes. Furthermore, orchestrating the deployment of changes to production and ensuring comprehensive documentation is provided.
• Manage the work of geographically dispersed technical team members (mostly in India and U.S.) and make accommodations to overlap with their schedules.
• Work with other technical managers to architect solutions for an ecosystem of applications.
• Review design, analysis, and code for quality and adherence to standards and industry best practices.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and 10 years relevant experience.
• Full stack development experience with modern technologies such as Java and ReactJS.
• Proficient with fundamental front-end languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Experience in Java back-end development and skills such as with Spring-boot framework, Spring core and JPA.
• Extensive experience in RESTful Web Services, WSDL and related technologies like SOAP, XML, JSON, etc.
• Proficient in various J2EE technologies, relational database principles, client/server infrastructure.
• Experience architecting full-stack solutions and explaining those solutions to technical and non-technical staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Familiar with microservices design and understanding design patterns.
• Experience with leading geographically dispersed development teams working in different time zones.
• Experience with:
o Medidata Clinical Cloud and the product's APIs
o Absorb LMS APIs.
o AWS with API gateway/workflow orchestration/lambda/serverless applications.
o Git, Jira, Confluence, Swagger
o Oracle and MongoDB
Other Required Qualifications:
• Demonstrated communication skills.
• Collaboration with teams, managers and/or clients.
• Organization skills, including time management ability.
• Detail oriented.
