Human Resources is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining AARP enterprise-wide human resource strategies, initiatives, policies, procedures and related systems. This includes employee compensation and benefits, organization design and integration, talent acquisition, talent development and employee relations.
The HR Consulting Director collaborates with AARP senior leaders, influences the organizational strategy and structure, and builds a talent pipeline across functions. Implements organizational design and change adoption plans. Assists in the design and Implementation of business unit recruitment and talent development plans, in partnership with Talent Acquisition and Talent Development. Works to ensure that programs and initiatives align to business needs, governance compliance, and risk mitigation.

Responsibilities
- Works as a senior team member and supports the Vice President in setting vision, strategy, and goals. Collaborates with functional leads to design workforce planning solutions that will fulfill long-term business needs and talent mobility.
- Builds relationships with business leaders to offer thought leadership on organizational and people-related strategy and execution
- Consults on people matters relating to the formulation of the client group's human capital strategy/plan, along with the organizational requirements to execute that strategy/plan. Applies knowledge of human capital, talent management, career development, workforce planning, and organizational development.
- Participates in talent review/succession planning discussions. Assists business leaders in identifying successors and assessing strengths and development areas.
- Collaborates with the business and appropriate team to define action plans that achieve the workforce strategy. Articulates the capabilities, resources, and actions needed to close talent gaps and/or optimize the workforce. Supports organization redesign and realignments, as needed.
- Identifies and surfaces trends in both qualitative and quantitative data to help improve organizational health. Understands when data will assist in making smart, informed decisions. Interprets complex analyses and ties back to business priorities.
- Provides expertise in the following areas: career planning, performance management, coaching, data analysis, compensation and rewards, employee relations, learning and development, recognition programs, and strategic development.
Qualifications
- Bachelors in Human Resources or other related field.
- 8+ years of HR experience with at least 5 years of HR Business Partner experience.
- Experience partnering with senior leadership to establish HR consulting strategy.
- Workforce planning experience.
- Strong business acumen and ability to understand the different needs of business units across the enterprise.
- Ability to interpret complex analyses and ties back to business priorities.
- Experience consulting in the following HR functions: career planning, performance management, coaching, data analysis, compensation and rewards, employee relations, learning and development, recognition programs, and strategic development.
Preferred:
- HR certifications such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR
- Change management experience
- Master's in HR
- Change management certification
