Job Summary
Aptive is seeking a Communications Deputy Project Manager with a strong background in strategic communications, marketing and branding to support the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Office of Communications (10BCOM).
10BCOM serves as the corporate communications office for VHA, the nation's largest integrated health care system and the third largest civilian workforce in the federal government. 10BCOM is responsible for informing Veterans and other key internal and external audiences about the services VHA offers, organizational priorities, ongoing initiatives, health and wellness issues, advances in medical and clinical care, and a wide array of events and activities occurring both nationally and locally.
This candidate is responsible for designing and developing comprehensive communication strategies to promote VHA's program goals. They utilize expertise in communications and public health to effectively manage communication initiatives to reach diverse audiences while supporting the program manager in the day-to-day management of the team, contract reporting, personnel review, etc.
The ideal candidate is decisive and pays attention to details. They have previous experience leading government contracts and are highly organized. They love to work in a team environment. They are systematic in their project work. They exceed client expectations with high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
This full-time position is in Washington, DC. This position may also be remote.

Primary Responsibilities
- Provide project leadership in all aspects of planning, preparation, coordination, and execution of multiple projects and anticipate client needs as driven by project work plans.
- Independently manage resources and be able to deliver all components of basic and stand-alone projects.
- Design and develop comprehensive communication strategies to promote a health organization's program goals.
- Utilize expertise in communications and public health to effectively manage communication initiatives to reach diverse audiences.
- Supports the Team Leader in day-to-day management of the team, contract reporting, personnel review, etc.
- Plan client meetings by anticipating needs as driven by the work plan, coordinate meetings with key users, develop data requests and document key questions to be answered throughout the engagement.
- Create meaningful relationships with clients.
Minimum Qualifications
- 8 + years' experience supporting a variety of strategic communications and project management functions including task tracking, reporting, meeting coordination and handling information requests.
- Bachelors degree in Communications, Political Science, or Management.
- Experience supporting EHR implementation at large federal agency.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
