Job Summary
Aptive Resources seeks an internal communication specialist with previous experience in developing internal communication strategies to ensure effective information is delivered to staff to support the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Office of Communications (10BCOM).
10BCOM serves as the corporate communications office for VHA, the nation's largest integrated health care system and the third largest civilian workforce in the federal government. 10BCOM is responsible for informing Veterans and other key internal and external audiences about the services VHA offers, organizational priorities, ongoing initiatives, health and wellness issues, advances in medical and clinical care, and a wide array of events and activities occurring both nationally and locally.
The ideal candidate excels at creating content that promotes a positive and cohesive organizational culture across a variety of mediums, including websites, blogs and newsletters. They solve problems and works well independently and on a team. They give superior customer service, have a positive attitude, and can quickly shift project priorities. They also excel at creating consistent, strategic messaging across communication channels. Previous experience working with the Department of Veterans Affairs is a plus.
This full-time position is in Washington, DC. This position may also be remote.

Primary Responsibilities
- Write internal communications materials, such as emails, newsletters, blogs, video scripts, and more.
- Conduct analysis for environmental scans and strategic communications plans.
- Partner with Aptive design team to create eye-catching graphics and materials.
- Help on multiple projects as skills mature or demonstrated capability increases.
Minimum Qualifications
- Outstanding written and verbal communications skills.
- 8-10 years of relevant experience in strategic communications and written content development.
- Bachelor's degree in a related program, such as mass communications, marketing, or public relations.
- Consulting experience supporting Cabinet-level federal agencies or large healthcare systems.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
