Primary Purpose

The Assistant Global Corporate Controller, Accounting Operations & Integration is responsible to the Vice President, Corporate Controller for managing compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as they relate to revenue recognition for all Emmes' global business affiliates. This individual will collaborate across the enterprise to ensure standardized and integrated financial reporting, compliance with global accounting standards and controls, and consistent adoption of government contracting regulations. Further, this individual will work closely with affiliate business units, external auditors, and regulatory bodies to facilitate compliance, oversee global reporting, and ensure adherence to GAAP requirements, while also supporting taxation functions. The Assistant Global Corporate Controller, Accounting Operations and Integration will support the company and the Vice President, Corporate Controller in collaborating with the Financial Planning and Analysis department, the Operations Finance team, and all affiliate accounting operations personnel in managing the financial affairs of the company.

Responsibilities

  • Works with the Vice President, Corporate Controller to ensure integration of affiliate entities and standardization of accounting policies and procedures, compliance with period-end reporting timelines, and financial statement reporting in compliance with U.S. GAAP
  • Prepares detailed financial reports, insights and analyses for Emmes' business leaders and affiliates
  • Assists with the financial and incurred cost audits with the Vice President, Corporate Controller
  • Responsible for indirect cost structure management, including disclosure statements, and completing incurred cost submissions
  • Oversees revenue recognition across affiliates to ensure compliance with ASC 606
  • Ensure timely and proper recording of Direct Labor costs
  • Work closely with Operations Finance Team to ensure accurate reconciliation of project accounting revenue, unbilled and billing in excess of revenue
  • Oversees various projects around intercompany, transfer pricing, capitalized software, provisional rates, and the development/ rollout of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across accounting operations
  • Works with the existing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) to improve delivery of financial results as well as proper setup of new entities acquired
  • Ensure effective management of lease accounting, including compliance in accordance with ASC 842
  • Coordinates the intercompany reconciliations with affiliate entities
  • Oversee and work with external tax consultants to ensure proper tax reporting and good standing status
  • Assists in researching accounting issues and pronouncements for compliance with GAAP
  • Establishes and monitors internal controls to prevent inaccuracies in financial statements


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field with 10+ years of experience in accounting, and a minimum of 5 years' experience in global accounting roles with daily interactions with global entities, foreign currency, and statutory reporting outside the US and 5+ years of supervisory experience
  • Active Certified Public Accountant required
  • Experience working in a Federal Government contracting environment is required
  • Experience with global consolidations and financial statement preparation
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
  • Experience working with external auditors
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient with MS Office applications, particularly with Excel
  • Ability to work outside the typical business hours to meet reporting and project deadlines
  • Deltek Costpoint and Time & Expense experience is preferred
  • Experience with acquisition integrations preferred
  • Experience with ERP implementations is a plus
  • Experience with a private equity-backed business is a plus
