Job Summary
Aptive is seeking a Learning Experience Designer wit h demonstrated experience identifying training needs for clients. The ideal candidate will have experience with training efforts for large-scale federal programs, particularly in the healthcare space. The candidate will work as part of a team to understand client vision and user needs in the development of an accessible, seamless user experience in support of a new PTSD Treatment Decision Aid for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs .
This is a full-time, remote position (with the option to work from Aptive's headquarters in Alexandria, VA) and is a contingent hire.

Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the instructional design process, including needs analysis, curriculum mapping, content development, and evaluation.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, UX designers, and stakeholders to identify the target audience's learning needs, and create engaging and effective educational materials and metrics for success.
- Facilitate presentations to groups of content owners/ s ubject m atter e xperts through the design, development , and implementation of workforce training.
- Evaluate instructional programs, course content , and instructional methodologies.
- Design and develop learning solutions based on accepted theory and in multiple modalities to include instructor-led, web-based, and blended instruction.
- Us e established project management methods, p lan , execute , and manage instructional design projects to ensure on-time delivery.
- Identify areas of improvement across processes and deliverables.
- Monitor performance to ensure project tasks are completed on time, on budget , and within scope while tr ack ing and addressing any program-level risks .
- Effectively address business and performance objectives .
Minimum Qualifications
- 8 years of experience, ideally working in a team-based environment in a consulting (or similarly structured) organization focused on enterprise transformation initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree or certification in Instructional Design, Adult Learning , Organizational Development, Education, or related field .
- Demonstrated experience using plain language in educational materials .
- Demonstrated experience using accommodations to develop learning materials for audiences of differing abilities.
- Strong understanding of web accessibility standards (Section 508, WCAG).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to connect and align small details with an overarching vision.
- Experience, comfort, and confidence in pitching new ideas to clients.
- Ability to lead and organize internal and external meetings.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience supporting large federal agencies.
- Knowledge of best practices and experience designing for adult learning.
- Experience or training in Customer Experience (CX) methodologies.
- Knowledge of mental health topics, particularly PTSD, is a plus.
- Fam iliarity with military life/culture a plus.
- Prosci Change Management Certification desired but not necessary.
