Job Summary

Aptive is seeking a Portfolio Manager to support the United States (U.S.) Customs and Border Protection (CBP). In this position, you will have overall management of the contract team, including supervision of 10+ person team, task order execution & oversight, overseeing portfolio planning & tactics, and allocating resources. In this role you will perform day to day task order management as required by our customer and will be responsible for ensuring all work performed and deliverables submitted meet their specific requirements.

This senior-level, full-time position is currently on-site in Alexandria, VA and Washington, DC. This is a contingent hire position.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage and direct a portfolio of projects, working closely with project managers to ensure successful client delivery, contractual compliance and contract stability.
  • Facilitate quarterly check-in meetings with clients to solicit feedback, document performance and identify focus areas for enhancement or improvement.
  • Provide project quality assurance and deliverable reviews to help ensure conformance to defined project requirements.
  • Directly responsible for Bi-Monthly Progress Meetings that will cover the status and results of performance with the customer which will be both working and formal sessions to review overall program efforts.
  • Build and foster relationships with federal partners and internal team members.
  • Remain up to date on industry trends and innovative ways to deliver solutions.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Active Secret DHS Suitability Determination
  • 7+ years of experience with planning, coordination, technical direction, and surveillance of the activities necessary to assure disciplined work performance and timely resources application to accomplish all tasks under your respective portfolio of programs & projects.
  • 5+ years of experience with federal government program and project management
  • Experience planning, managing, and supporting the acquisition and operation of the capabilities, technologies, and services required to meet customer expectations.
  • Experience working across specialties (e.g., technology, health, digital) to provide better and innovative solutions to clients.
  • Experience overseeing multiple contracts and supporting several different clients simultaneously.
  • Exceptional written, oral, listening and presentation skills.
  • Ability to productively collaborate with a wide range of personality types while meeting assignment demands.
  • Confidence and poise to work closely with senior executives.
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • PMP certification is strongly preferred.


Desired Qualifications

  • Active Top-Secret Clearance or ability to obtain.
  • Master's degree in a related field plus
  • Understanding of DHS Acquisition Management Directive (MD) 102-01
  • Experience with Systems Engineering Life Cycle (SELC) 102-01-103.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a high-level attention to detail and ability to carry out multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to get up to speed quickly on complex issues; desire to work in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain the rationale behind creative ideas to both clients and internal teams.
