Principal Risk Associate, Enterprise Services Risk

You will be part of a growing, talented team responsible for providing oversight for end-to-end payments strategy, operations, and risk management for all payment types across Enterprise Services. You will also support the Enterprise Wide Initiative to build a strong and sustainable enterprise payments program commensurate with the nature, size, complexity, and risk profile of the organization while addressing regulatory and Audit issues related to Enterprise Payments.

As a Principal Risk Associate for Capital One's Enterprise Services Risk Team supporting Enterprise Services Risk (ESR), you will apply your leadership and analytical skills to directly support ESR and the ES Business Chief Risk Officer (BCRO) as a risk advisor. You will act as a thought leader and trusted advisor working across ESR to identify opportunities and develop solutions for strengthening risk practices and controls in ES Risk to maintain and mature a well-managed risk office program.

Additionally, this role will include ideation and implementation to enhance our risk and governance practices within our team by incorporating process improvements, automation and elevated reporting for many of our governance programs within the team. You will also support cross-functional programs within our team, which may include governance responsibility in our Computer Based Learning and Policy Programs.

General Responsibilities:

  • Develop and leverage key relationships with stakeholders and facilitate collaboration across the enterprise
  • Create and maintain formal process documentation utilizing Business Process Management artifacts
  • Provide ideation for automation for enhanced reporting and productivity
  • Have strong communication and collaboration skills, fostering positive working relationships with business partners
  • Prepare and maintain risk processes and reporting
  • Collecting data and information, using analytics and reporting to provide transparency to senior leadership and executives
  • Identify and implement process improvements driving issue resolution and risk mitigation activities
  • Acting as a subject matter expert to effectively partner with customers to achieve desired outcome or improvement by clarifying needs and providing appropriate solutions


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 2 years of Process Management or Risk Management experience
  • At least 2 years of experience supporting internal business clients


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of Process Management or Risk Management experience
  • 4+ years of experience supporting internal business clients
  • 1+ years of experience with GRC Tool
  • Attention to detail and results focused
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with Google suite experience
  • Business Process Management (BPM) certification
  • Experience in controls development, controls management, and reporting activities
  • Strong organization skills and ability to support multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong relationship building skills, customer focus and ability to collaborate across teams to deliver
  • Excellent verbal presentation and written communication skills to confidently interact with and lead meetings at all levels, including executives
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical and critical thinking skills to effectively respond to shifting priorities, demands and timelines
