United States Army - Natick Soldier Systems Center (NSSC) - Network Enterprise Center-Natick (NEC-N) located in Natick, Massachusetts, has a requirement for Information Technology (IT) services to support NSSC customers. NSSC is the Army's one-stop Soldier support center and is responsible for researching, developing, fielding, and managing food, clothing, shelters, airdrop systems and other soldier support items. On these networks, the NSSC Science and Technology community utilizes non-standard software and hardware that is not usually found on standard Army operational networks.

The Virtual Systems Management Technologist will provide primary and backup server system administration support.

Responsibilities

Work you'll do

As a Virtual Systems Management Technologist within our Natick team, you will:
  • Provide systems administration support for VMware virtual environments and backup support for Windows operating systems and applications.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and provide troubleshooting support for all appliances, operating systems, applications, and hardware assigned.
  • Maintain system compliance by ensuring all approved IAVAs, SPs, and patches are installed and configured, including maintaining Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) compliance and reporting.
  • Create and update related server/application documentation, including Server Security Plans (SSPs), Methods of Procedures (MOPs), user guides, and other related training material.
  • Work with the customer to help track annual maintenance support of systems, hardware, and software.
  • Follow all NEC policies, procedures, applicable regulations, and functional area processes.
  • Maintain currency in technology and service capabilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • A combination of 5+ years of experience or applicable technical certification may be used instead of education with 7+ years of directly relevant experience
  • Possess Baseline and Full Computing Environment certifications for IAT-II IAW DoD 8570.01-M and BBP 05-PR-M-0002
  • Acceptable certifications, including Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, GICSP, CND, or SSCP
  • Possess and maintain a valid state operator's license
  • Possess Windows Server certification
  • Secret clearance required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Desired OS/Application Experience: VMware vSphere 6.x (VCSA, ESXi 6.x), VMware vRealize Suite
  • Desired certifications: VMware (VCSA/VCP)
  • Solid server/networking troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communication skills (both written and oral) demonstrated customer service focus, and excellent interpersonal skills, ability to listen and understand what is being described by the end user as well as the ability to explain problem resolutions when necessary.
  • Ability to occasionally work after hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Ability to meet minimum clearance requirements.
