This position is instrumental in coordinating outreach efforts to attract and recruit diverse transfer students for the Business Information Technology (BIT) in Cybersecurity Management and Analytics (CMA) program and supporting the Global Master of Science in Business Administration – Business Analytics (MSBA-BA) program. Reporting to the Director of the Global Master of Science in Business Administration – Business Analytics (MSBA-BA) program, the incumbent will coordinate student recruitment planning, activities, events, communications, and reporting for these programs. The Assistant Director will partner and communicate effectively with various stakeholders including Northern Virginia Community College, Germanna Community College, Pamplin Office of Undergraduate Programs, Pamplin Academic Departments, Pamplin Career Services, Pamplin Academic Advisors, Pamplin Embedded Counselor, VT Office of Undergraduate Admissions, community colleges, faculty, alumni, university, community, and corporate partners on recruitment efforts to inspire and encourage students to pursue an undergraduate degree in BIT CMA and a graduate degree in Global Business Analytics. This position will lead outreach and student success initiatives to support enrolled students, including but not limited to the BIT-Cyber mentorship program and speaker series. The person who holds this role must demonstrate the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion. In addition, the Assistant Director must be committed to continuous learning to acquire knowledge and skills to support students throughout these programs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implement transfer student recruitment strategy for BIT-Cyber Greater Washington DC Metro Area.
- Build partnerships with Northern Virginia Community College and Germanna Community College, and others to generate greater awareness of the academic and professional pathways for the BIT-Cyber program in the Greater Washington DC Metro Area.
- Work closely with Virginia Tech Admission Counselor assigned to Northern Virginia Community College transfer student recruitment.
- Coordinate marketing and recruitment plans with the Director of Marketing and Advertising.
- Engage employers and corporate partners to support co-curricular activities, including but not limited to internships, mentor program, and speaker series.
- Connect alumni, advisory board members, corporate and community partners with students for mentoring opportunities.
- Track student recruitment endeavors and assist in the collection of data, data analysis, and report generation to inform, evaluate, and assess Pamplin’s recruiting efforts.
- Track student outreach and engagement, and assist in the collection of data, data analysis, and report generation to inform, evaluate, and assess Pamplin’s outreach and engagement efforts.
- Track student plans of study
- Benchmark peer/aspirant school initiatives to support transfer student needs.
- Provide access for students to Virginia Tech resources in Northern Virginia and Blacksburg (e.g., SOAR, Student Success Center, First-Generation Student Support, the Cultural and Community Centers, etc.).
- Travel in and around the Greater Washington DC Metro Area is expected in this role.
- Occasional travel to the Virginia Tech Blacksburg campus is also expected.
- Participate in service, community engagement, and college outreach efforts, which will require occasional work on evenings and weekends.
- All duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of the Global MSBA-BA.
