General Description of Duties
The StarRez System Administrator serves as a direct resource to staff in Conferences & Visitor Services and the Department of Resident Life, specifically for the technical operation of the StarRez Housing and Conference Management System. This position is part of the Resident Life Software Support and Engineering team, providing assistance and expertise in building and managing StarRez processes. The StarRez System Administrator works closely with Resident Life staff in Housing Management, Assignments, Housing Partnerships, and Administrative Operations to assist with building, configuring, testing, and documenting StarRez processes. The StarRez System Administrator works closely with staff in Conferences & Visitor Services to support and configure StarRez in conjunction with summer conferences and year-round guest events. Finally, the StarRez System Administrator works closely with the Software Support and Engineering Team to build and maintain integrations with various enterprise systems at the University of Maryland.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The StarRez System Administrator’s responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Manage technical aspects of the StarRez Housing Management System with a focus on data accuracy and system performance. (25%) Work with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation of new system features and enhancements. (25%) Work with StarCare to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to the StarRez system. (15%) Coordinates database programming and enterprise system integration support. (15%) Develop and maintain technical documentation for redundancy of technical support. (20%) May serve on Department and Divisional committees and task groups, as assigned. Performs other related duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree is required; appropriate coursework or experience with computer programming is required. Minimum of two years work experience in an Information Technology (IT) field is required. Experience with SQL is required. Work experience in a college or university setting and/or in programming for direct delivery of programs or services to a client base is required. Ability to interact with university non-technical administrative employees and with student employees in order to sustain a collaborative setting is required. Experience with StarRez is preferred. Must be able to follow through on multiple and often simultaneous projects and work under time-sensitive deadlines.
Physical demands
Normal office environment – Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negotiable amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Ability to travel around campus for meetings and to attend to duties.
