Audio Visual Engineer, Center for the ArtsThe George Mason University Center for the Arts, seeks an experienced Audio Visual Engineer to join the production team, under the supervision of the Audio Supervisor. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.Responsibilities:The Audio Visual Engineer will be responsible for the daily setup and operation of the Center's audio/video equipment in support of the Center's performances, rentals, and internal events that occur within the Center for the Arts and adjacent spaces. Duties will include load-in and load-out of audio/video equipment, rigging and focusing of projectors, screens, and multimedia displays, as well as programming and operation of video playback systems such as powerpoint and Qlab.Additionally, the Audio Visual Engineer will support the audio team with general A1 or A2 duties which may include the operation of digital audio consoles, wireless microphone handling, frequency coordination, and recording.Qualifications:A bachelor's degree in Audio or Video Production, or equivalent professional experience and training, is preferred. Additional professional experience as an audio/video technician is required.Experience should include an understanding of the production process, backstage etiquette, audio/video signal flows, projector rigging and focusing, digital audio console programming and operation, wireless microphone use, installation of audio/video systems and basic audio/video equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.This position will be required to lift up to 50lbs. The ability to work evenings and weekends is required.This position is an hourly wage position at $28.00 per hour up to 40 hours per week.Approximate work dates will be September 5 - December 17, 2023 and January 2 - May 12, 2024 with the possibility of extending longer.
