ESP Graduate and Undergraduate Programs CoordinatorThe George Mason University Department of Environmental Science and Policy (ESP) in the College of Science (COS) seeks candidates for a Graduate and Undergraduate Programs Coordinator. We also serve the university, local, state, national, and international communities with our expertise and our teaching programs.For more information about the department, visit us on the web at For more information about the College of Science, visit 32 hours per week in a fast-paced and demanding office setting, the Programs Coordinator is the initial and primary contact for students in the Environmental Science and Policy Department. The Programs Coordinator greets, guides, and directs students in the submission of academic requests, as well as referring students to additional staff members or other university offices when needed. A major function of the Programs Coordinator is to provide accurate and timely information about college and university procedures to students, staff, and faculty who contact or visit the Undergraduate & Graduate Academic Affairs office. Additional responsibilities include data entry and tracking progress of requests submitted for review, compiling monthly calendars, including searching for and compiling up-to-date lists of events and updates to the unit's web page. This individual will also, in consultation with faculty, prepare and troubleshoot the schedule of classes in the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters, and assist in the scheduling and preparation of recruiting events.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a relevant field;Proven ability to administer and manage complex and multi-step admissions processes for graduate students, following relevant Mason procedures and policies, tracking enrolled students, and supporting all the administrative aspects of progress towards their degree within ESP, COS, and the University;Ability to plan, coordinate, and execute fall, spring, and summer academic schedules in coordination with ESP faculty and other Mason faculty and adjuncts;Mid-level familiarity, and significant experience, using standard word processing, spreadsheets, and databases;Excellent professional presentation, communication, and customer service skills; good judgment, and ability to prioritize and provide prompt responses to requests and inquiries for a variety of university stakeholders;Proven experience and high skill level with utilization of electronic and telecommunications software, on-site and remotely, for effective management and communication with various stakeholders;Familiarity and high-level ability to effectively utilize and navigate database and spreadsheet software, and access information from the internet for program support; andEnthusiasm for working in higher education and a research-oriented environment.Preferred Qualifications:Experience working in an academic unit within a university setting, particularly with both graduate and undergraduate students and academic requirements; andExperience working with Ellucian-Banner and admissions programs, such as Target X, are strongly preferred.
