Job Description
The Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) Coordinator will work to build a culture of supportive behavioral interventions in schools across Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) for all students. Through existing social emotional work occurring in the Offices of Equity and Alternative Programs, Student Support Teams and Student Services, this position will align behavioral interventions with academic and attendance supports per the (MTSS) framework. The coordinator will collaborate with central office and school-based colleagues to support universal (Tier 1) interventions to promote academic, attendance and behavioral supports, with a focus on behavioral supports. The position will also review and make recommendations for implementation of group and individual evidence-and-research-based programs (Tiers 2 and 3) to support students who are regularly missing school, having academic challenges and/or behavioral concerns. The coordinator will work closely with the Department of Teaching, Learning and Leadership (TLL) to align the behavioral supports with the academic initiatives and strengthen existing programs and make recommendations for new interventions to cultivate implementation of a comprehensive intervention program across ACPS.

Qualifications
Education: Master's degree in school counseling, psychology, social work and/or school administration.
Certificates & Licenses: Virginia education licensure in school counseling, school social work, school psychology and/or school administration.
Experience: Progressive experience supporting tiered systems of support for academic, attendance and behavioral interventions in an educational setting or with K-12 students.

Essential Functions
- Design and provide training and support to schools in order to implement Tiers 1, 2 and 3 academic, attendance and behavioral intervention programs.
- Develop and compile resources that may be used by schools and division wide to promote academic, attendance and behavioral interventions in ways that engage students, staff, and families.
- Research, design, and train schools on the implementation of evidence-and-research-based interventions (Tier 2) for students who are struggling academically, to attend school regularly and with behavioral skills.
- In collaboration with other colleagues in the department, create a framework-specific to academic, attendance and behavioral interventions that aligns with the division's MTSS structure.
- Serve as a consultant to school-based staff in the area of increasing student attendance, supporting behavioral skill building and academic development.
- Coordinate with community agencies and partners, including social service and mental health services, for the purpose of meeting the needs of specific ACPS students.
- Assist with the development and implementation of evaluation measures to assess program effectiveness.
- Participate in meetings, workshops, and seminars as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
- Prepare a wide variety of written materials for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
- Research resources and methods (e.g. interventions and treatment techniques, assessment tools and methods, community resources, etc.) for the purpose of providing appropriate interventions across all tiers of MTSS.
- Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the department.

- Tuberculosis Skin Test.

- Proof of COVID vaccination. Exemptions for religious/medical will be reviewed.
