Graphic Designer The Division of University Life at George Mason University is seeking interested and qualified candidates for the position of Graphic Designer. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.About the Position:The Graphic Designer will work as part of a team comprised of marketing and communications professionals and reports to the Marketing and Design Specialist within UL Marketing and Communications.Responsibilities:Assist with the execution of an integrated unit-wide marketing plan;Design high-quality print and digital deliverables for University Life events/campaigns/programming/etc.;Partner with unit web designers to manage updates and maintenance of unit websites;Contribute to the development and execution of a unit social media plan;Help promote unit programs and initiatives by developing content for university communications channels;Assist with the management of unit marketing budget; andSupport the supervision of undergraduate student employees.Required Qualifications:Experience with multiple photo editing techniques and software, including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Bridge/Lightroom), Camera Raw, etc.;Experience with print and publication design;Ability to generate original concepts and execute them from start to finish;Experience with final preparation and packaging of print materials;Experience with operating a DSLR camera;Knowledge of CMYK, RGB and PMS color grids;Ability to utilize Mac computers and software;Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills;Demonstrated organizational management and problem-solving skills;Working knowledge of social media management and implementation (Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Hootsuite);Ability to accurately and efficiently meet a multitude of deadlines and responsibilities;Demonstrated commitment to diversity and comfort working within diverse populations, and ability to thrive in a team-oriented workplace;Availability to work occasional weekends or evenings to support departmental events, orientations, and/or information sessions; andMust be able to provide a graphic design/photography portfolio (print or online).Preferred Qualifications:Experience in marketing project management and utilization of project management platforms;Experience with content management systems, including WordPress CMS, and maintaining an organization's website; andExperience managing and/or advising undergraduate students.The Graphic Designer position is designed for 20 hours per week. At times, the work may require extended hours and/or night and weekend work hours.
