Adventist HealthCare seeks to hire an experienced Director of Head Start at The Lourie Center who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing.
As a Director of Head Start at The Lourie Center you will:
•Work with the Lourie Center Executive Director to implement the federal Head Start Program and oversees compliance with federal law and mandates.
•Be responsible for long-range strategic planning and day-to-day administration of Head Start Program serving vulnerable families, pregnant mothers, infants, toddlers and preschoolers and their families.
•Implement grant administration, including program development and oversight, professional development, staff recruitment and retention, budget creation and strategic planning, to include coordination of annual self-assessment and community assessment activities.
•Establish and maintain relationships and collaborations with internal and external stakeholders, such as: Lourie Center, AHC, Office of Head Start, Maryland State Department of Education, Child Care Partners, local public-school systems and other community agencies; Represent Head Start in local and/or national early education planning and advisory bodies
•Support Head Start management team with all areas of service delivery through ongoing monitoring.
•Prepare Monthly Program Reports to Head Start Policy Council and the Lourie Center Board; present at respective meetings.
•Support philanthropic efforts, including federal, state, and local sources, family foundations, and Lourie Center events.
•Master's Degree with in Early Childhood Education or Child Development/related field
•Minimum of Five (5) years working in supervisory/management position, supporting team members directly with children
•Bilingual Spanish/English preferred
•Knowledge of grants management and program leadership
•Experience with parent engagement with families experiencing poverty, teen parents, expectant parents, infants and young children, including those with unique learning,
•Knowledge of child development, developmentally appropriate practice for the specific age group (Birth to 5)
•Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards.
•Knowledge of Adult Learning Theories, Early Childhood landscape
•Knowledge of Head Start Early Learning Framework
•Must have valid driver's license and successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check.
