Are you skilled in coaching others, public speaking, training, and enjoy data? This is an exciting opportunity with the Wellness, Health Promotion, and Prevention team. The CSB is committed to the One Fairfax Policy, a policy aimed at racial and social equity by ensuring all individuals in Fairfax have an opportunity to reach their highest level of personal achievement. This position is responsible for ensuring that this policy is at the forefront of our community-based wellness and prevention services. A successful candidate will have the ability to develop and maintain working relationships with diverse coworkers, community members, and partners. Along with leadership skills supervising and coaching staff for excellent program delivery, be detail oriented, thorough and demonstrate a growth-mindset.

Coordinates and provides proactive, multicultural, community-based wellness, mental health promotion and substance abuse prevention services to residents of Fairfax County and the cities of Fairfax and Falls Church. Supervises prevention specialists who provide prevention strategies and trainings within the community and champions initiatives that reduce risk factors and increase protective factors at a community level. Oversees the coordination and quality assurance of the team’s participation in community events, trainings, and presentations on a variety of mental health, wellness, suicide prevention and substance (alcohol and drug) topics.

Coordinates and/or delivers services supporting the six federal strategies "information dissemination, prevention education, positive alternatives, problem identification and referral, community-based processes and environmental strategies. Supports and supervises data collection and evaluation, collaboration and capacity building to plan and organize service delivery in our jurisdiction.

Illustrative Duties

  • Provides staff supervision for all clinical aspects of the program;
  • Plans, assigns, and reviews work of team members;
  • Interviews and selects candidates for various positions;
  • Provides liaison to community agencies to facilitate communication and service provision for individuals requiring multiple services;
  • Develops and implements program activities and services, including training and educational activities;
  • Under direction, develops and implements a specialized program which is designed to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of service provision;
  • Supervises day-to-day program operations;
  • Promotes awareness of program services through presentations;
  • Develops and monitors program's policies and procedures;
  • Ensures that program is in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local policies, regulations, and statutes;
  • Mediates and facilitates inter-and intra-program issues needing a systems perspective;
  • Plans, recommends, and executes quality initiatives related to mental health standards;
  • Ensures that a facility is maintained in good operating condition and compliant with health and safety, licensure, and regulatory requirements.


Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an accredited college with at least a master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or nursing plus three years of clinical experience or a doctoral degree in psychology, social, counseling or nursing plus one year of clinical experience.

Must be eligible to be licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia in one of the following: Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, Clinical Psychologist, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Valid driver's license with fewer than six demerit points (or equivalent in another state) and must be maintained throughout employment with Community Services Board.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, a Child Protective Services Registry, a driving record check, and sanction screening to the satisfaction of the employer. A TB screening upon hire and annually thereafter. Requires a National Provider Identifier.

This position is emergency/essential services personnel. (Required to report for duty during inclement weather and/or other emergencies).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with community-based engagement;
  • Experience in public speaking;
  • Experience using survey tools and excel.
  • Experience organizing offsite trainings and presentations.
  • Certified Prevention Specialist or experience implementing the Strategic Prevention Framework

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Job is generally sedentary in nature; however, visual acuity is required to read data on computer monitor. Ability to operate keyboard driven equipment, lift up to 15 lbs, drive a county vehicle when required, and effectively communicate with others. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
