Duties

The purpose of this position is to maintain, troubleshoot, remove, repair, install, certify, test, and perform operational checks on the turboprop engines, propellers, and associated propulsion system components.
  • Removes, installs, certifies, repairs, modifies, overhauls, and installs turboprop engines, reduction gear boxes, turbine modules, compressor modules, auxiliary power units, propellers and related propeller components as required.
  • Modifies engines, propellers, auxiliary power units, and components in accordance with Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTO) directives; removes and installs engine quick change kits; prepares engines for installation and installs engine and propeller assemblies on aircraft.
  • Performs operational checks of installed propellers, engines, auxiliary power units and sub-systems during aircraft maintenance ground runs in accordance with approved checklists.
  • Performs isochronal and special evaluations on engines, propellers, and auxiliary power units. Interprets certification findings and determines adequacy of corrective action.
  • Performs aircraft full power runs and complete engine and propeller efficiency checks.
  • Prepares man-hour data collection and required forms for input into the Core Automated Maintenance System (CAMS) or the G081 (AFI 22-2101, CAMS for Mobility).
  • Maintains bench stock, parts, and equipment. Assists the material control function in identifying part numbers and stock numbers for processing and controlling of repair cycle assets.
  • Provides on-the-job training for assigned personnel. Plans and conducts formal classes of instruction in techniques of repair and maintenance of aircraft engine, propeller, auxiliary power unit, and related equipment and in the use of diagrams, blueprints, wiring schematics and technical publications.
  • Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations such as Operational Readiness Inspections, Inspector General and Unit Evaluation Inspections, mobility, and command support readiness inspections, mobility, and command support exercises.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination in accordance with 5 CFR, Part 339 and Technician Personnel Regulation 355.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.


Qualifications

Group III: Current and former Uniform Service Members (Active, Reserve, Guard) nationwide who are eligible for military membership in the DCANG.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS :
This Title 32 Excepted Service position requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard.
Military Grades : ENLISTED
Minimum: E-3 / A1C
Maximum: E-5 / SSgt
Compatible Military Assignments : AFSC 2A6X1

Applicants who exceed the maximum military grade listed above must submit a statement in writing that they are willing to take an administrative reduction in grade to the advertised military grade on the job announcement for which applying. Applicants who exceed the military grade will not be placed into the technician position until they have been administratively reduced to the military grade on the job announcement. Please note that exceeding the maximum rank does not automatically qualify you for consideration.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Must possess general experience, education or training which has provided the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications, and skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Must possess 18 months of specialized experience in repairing, rebuilding or overhauling C-130 aircraft systems and major components using the tools of the trade; experience aligning, adjusting and rigging systems and controls after the replacement of parts, components and major repairs; operate a variety of measurement, test and diagnostic equipment utilized in troubleshooting and repair of aircraft; inspect the full range of mechanical systems with the ability to analyze existing or foreseeing problems and recommend corrective action; and use a wide variety of technical publications to include complex schematics and specifications.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Pre-Employment Physical Examinations : Individual selected must successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination in accordance with 5 CFR, Part 339 and Technician Personnel Regulation 355.

D.C.
