Duties

  • Respond to and investigates emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service.
  • Exercise search and arrest authority, detains witnesses, apprehends suspects, interviews witnesses and other persons involved, determines whether facts warrant apprehension or lesser action.
  • Collect and preserve evidence. Conducts long and short-term investigations on criminal cases and analyze facts to identify suspects and develops case information for use in pressing charges and bringing suspect to trial.
  • Appear in court to testify as required in Military Court Martials or Federal and State Court proceedings. Provides sworn testimony based on the investigative process, evidence gathered, witness? statements in criminal and traffic courts.
  • Perform required lifesaving first aid in the event of an emergency as the first responder to an incident until medical emergency personnel arrive.
  • Conduct traffic law enforcement patrol using specialized equipment such as radar, Lidar and breathalyzer.
  • Apprehend violators as required by applicable laws or regulations.
  • Perform protection duties to deter, detect, and deny unauthorized access at fixed installation, internal compound, and incident perimeter posts.
  • Operate the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) terminal in accordance with federal and state laws to transcribe data.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 45 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • This position will require the incumbent to pass the primary physical fitness/agility test (PAT) within 30 days of employment and an annual one thereafter.
  • This position requires certification in the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) in accordance with Army Regulation 190-56.
  • This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid training.
  • This position requires the incumbent to be proficient in the use of assigned firearms.
  • GS-07: This position requires the incumbent to successfully complete the USAMPS Civilian Police Academy program of instruction within one year.
  • This position requires the incumbent to operate an Emergency Vehicle when patrolling and must successfully complete the Emergency Vehicle Operator's Course.
  • GS-07: This position requires the incumbent to successfully complete a Police Officer Field Training Program within 6 months upon initial assignment to law enforcement duties and maintain certification thereafter.
  • This position requires the incumbent to wear a uniform and /or protective clothing and equipment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.


Qualifications

This is a Standing Register (Open Continuous) announcement. The initial cut-off date to evaluate candidates will be 30 Jan 2023 at 11:59 PM with subsequent cut off dates on the first of the month. Announcement will be opened for six months. In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience at the GS-06 grade: One year of specialized experience which includes experience 1) Maintaining order and protecting life; (2) Responding to citizens in emergency/non-emergency situations; and (3) Protecting of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Specialized Experience at the GS-07 grade: One year of specialized experience which includes experience (1)Conducting law enforcement traffic patrol;(2)Enforcing traffic codes; and(3) Exercising arrest authority. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
