Duties
The detailee will join the new Office of Citizenship, Partnership, and Engagement ("OCPE") within the External Affairs Directorate at USCIS. The office is leading several priorities for the agency related to immigrant integration as well as promoting the naturalization process and engaging with stakeholders. This is an exciting opportunity to support OCPE leadership by providing logistical and organizational assistance.
The Special Assistant is responsible for assisting OCPE's Deputy Chief with the following duties:
· Drafting and clearing agendas, PowerPoint presentations, briefing materials, talking points, and executive summaries in preparation for meetings and speaking opportunities.
· Serving as a Point of Contact for engagements and managing a busy engagement calendar.
· Planning, evaluating, and implementing initiatives related to USCIS' delivery of immigration benefits, services, and associated policies.
· Establishing and maintaining partnerships with external stakeholders, as well as federal, state, and local agencies to understand concerns and gather information for drafting recommendations to improve the delivery of immigration services.
· Promoting dialogue about USCIS policies and programs by supporting the coordination of webinars, conferences, community meetings and special engagements.
· Developing policy and program activities related to stakeholder engagement, interpreting stakeholder feedback, and analyzing challenges faced by the public related to immigration matters.
· Managing and optimizing OCPE's clearance process to ensure materials are reviewed and cleared in a timely fashion.

Qualifications
Qualifications required: Demonstrated flexibility in presenting, selecting, and managing competing demands and uncertainties within compressed time frames. Excellent oral and written communications skills (including the ability to edit documents for clarity and succinctness as well as the ability to speak in public in various settings). Public affairs experience. Analytical skills to gather and analyze stakeholder feedback and to identify strategic engagement opportunities. Ability to track data and metrics to monitor outreach efforts. Ability to take initiative and work remotely during the joint duty assignment with minimal supervision. - Must be a current permanent Federal employee
- Must have supervisory approval to apply to the Joint Duty Assignment. DHS 250-2 Application Form under "required documents" section.
- Must NOT have any pending/outstanding disciplinary actions
- Must have achieved a minimum of "meet expectations/proficiency" on latest performance appraisal/evaluation
- Must be currently at the grade level of the detail. *No Temporary Promotion Opportunity*
- The program does not apply to members of the Military service or contractors.
