Duties

• You will install, repair, maintain, troubleshoot, test, and load new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures or similar complex electrical loads.
• You will plan and lay out work, tracing hard-to-locate defects or problems and complete repairs and installations with little or no advice.
• You will work from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, drawings, and electrical maintenance and repair manuals to plan and lay out the routing, placement type, size, gauge, balance, etc. for safe operation of systems and controls.
• You will perform installation and repair of electrical systems such as, primary and secondary utility services supplying electricity to specialized equipment such as, cranes, hoists, automatic elevators, dredges, pumps, air-compressors, etc.

• Incumbent must be able to become CPR certified.
• May be required to obtain and maintain current licenses to operate Folk Lift, High Lift (JLG), Bucket Truck and/or construction equipment.
• Incumbent may be assigned to perform tasks in non-trade related fields as an assistant/helper as workload requires.
• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision
• May be required to obtain special certification or license if assigned work requires special certification or licensing to perform the work or to use specialized tools or equipment.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of a Welder without more than normal supervision performing the following types of duties: 1) Interpreting and applying the National Electric Code, local codes, building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings to calculate common properties (e.g, voltage drop and current capability in series and parallel circuits, resistance, inductance, capacitance, etc.); 2) Using hand and power tools such as cable pullers, hydraulic benders, and pipe threading machines, as well as a wide variety of equipment; and 3) Demonstrating knowledge of various gauges, sizes, and types of wire, conduit, couplings, fittings, relays, boxes, circuit breakers, and other electrical devices as well as the ability to install and arrange them in ways that ensure proper and safe operation of electrical systems and equipment.

This position may require exposure to high noise levels.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including recall, nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. May perform shift work.

Call back and emergency overtime are regular requirements of this position.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:
The incumbent works from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and where parts of the systems worked on are in hard-to-reach places requiring long periods of standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, stretching and working in awkward, cramped, tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts, carries and sets up tools, equipment, and parts that weigh 20-40 pounds. Occasionally may lift moderately heavy objects weighing over 40 pounds with assistance.
