Duties

As a Supervisory Grants Management Specialist at the GS-1109-13 for Shuttered Venue Operators Grant Program (SVOG), some of your typical work assignments may include:
  • Managing the planning, direction, and execution of SVOG operations; and providing technical and administrative supervision to staff, including Federal Government employees through team leaders.
  • Developing policies and procedures related to grants management and overseeing the implementation of post-award management of over 13,000 grantees.
  • Using the Salesforce system to oversee and direct the workload and using Salesforce metrics to plan and direct the activities of the staff.
  • Evaluating the work performance of subordinates and establishing guidelines and performance expectations for staff members and developing work improvement plans as necessary.
  • Ensuring that all programs under his/her direction reflect the principles of workforce diversity in their management and operation in such areas as recruitment and staffing, employee development, staff assignments, and communications.

  • The salary range above reflects the salary for the Rest of US. Locality Pay will be added based on the location of the employee's residence.
  • Your primary residence is considered your official duty station.
  • The Term Appointment does not confer competitive status, reinstatement rights, or eligibility for non-competitive conversion to a permanent job to the individual(s) selected. You may be promoted or reassigned to another term position within SBA's Office of Disaster Recovery & Resilience; however, you may not be non-competitively appointed to another Federal position. You will be given an initial Term Appointment lasting more than 1 year, but not more than 4 years. If all other conditions of employment are met, this appointment may be extended, up to a total of four (4) years in increments determined by SBA.
  • Mandatory Overtime: In order to respond quickly and efficiently to disaster survivors, substantial compensated overtime hours may be required while on assignment (up to seven days a week and twelve to fourteen hours a day).

Qualifications

Generally, time in Non-Pay status is not creditable towards the specialized experience requirement listed below.

Experience: To receive credit, you must indicate the month and year as well as the average hours worked per week for each employer. You must address the specific specialized experience required for each grade level of this position on your resume or application or you will be rated "Ineligible" for that grade level.

GS-13: To qualify you must have at least 1 full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the GS-12 level in the Federal service that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skill, and ability to perform successfully in this position. This experience may have been gained in a Non-Federal service position. In addition, this Specialized Experience must demonstrate the following:
  • Supervising Grants Management Specialists who perform various activities relating to the oversight and financial administration of grants.
  • Directing and assigning specific grantee workloads to ensure that pre-and post-awards are managed and administered in accordance with governing policies and procedures.
  • Planning and directing the activities of the staff including the receipt and initial review of applications to determine their completeness and compliance with requirements.
  • Planning and establishing work schedules, deadlines, and standards for acceptable work, as well as coordinating and integrating the Contractors' work schedules.
  • Evaluating work performance of subordinates and establishing guidelines and performance expectations for staff members via an employee performance management system.
