The AARP Foundation Technology and Business Solutions Team works with over thirty groups of stakeholders across the organization, facilitating project work, and bringing about organizational transformation. With that large community comes the challenge of ensuring that all our programs and business units are served in the most efficient way possible. The Business Technology Manager will be an extremely strong communicator with an emphasis on common sense resolution to issues and developing solutions in the following areas: Data Architecture, Business and Technical Requirements, Business Process Engineering, Project Management, Product Management, Product Ownership, and Change Management.

Responsibilities

  • Manages technology projects and cross-functional teams, determines resources needed and responsibly stewards them, tracks progress against established timelines, evaluates training and monitors adoption. Collaborates across teams during the discovery phase to assess value, usability and feasibility of enhancement concept and experience.
  • Provides strategic guidance on the department's technology roadmap and manages the process of designing and implementing improvements and new functionality in technology applications. Develops engagement strategies in the digital space.
  • Assists in creating, gathering, managing, and communicating product requirements, strategies, roadmaps, and specifications. Manages technical projects and supporting documentation, tracks progress towards milestones, and keeps tabs on all the moving parts of agile planning and development cycles.
  • Acts as a business liaison with technology and vendors and provides end user training and support. Provides counsel to other business units in the execution of technology initiatives and digital engagement. Collaborates with management and IT to identify opportunities to streamline technology processes that support the business unit. Engages with internal and external vendor teams to establish priorities, manage work requests, and ensure on time delivery of enhancements.
  • Manages various web and database platforms, including defining, planning, and prioritizing enhancements for phased deployments. Manages, designs, and develops the structure, function, and organization of department applications on organizational platforms, including processes for application of appropriate metadata/taxonomies.
  • Gathers an in-depth understanding of the organization's technical landscape, data management practices and flows and data available across the organization. Advises on data accuracy and integration best practices, as assigned.
  • Defines and translates strategic business ideas into technical requirements with actionable, digestible user stories and acceptance criteria ensuring all organizational, regulatory, and strategic compliance requirements and objectives are met.
  • Utilizes technology to advance their business unit's priorities and projects. Serves as a resource within their business unit on appropriate tools/software and shares expertise openly and accessibly to advance business unit priorities and projects, and to meet critical goals

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • 3+ years working on IT projects, or project implementations with a data management component. Will accept 5+ years of referenced experience in lieu of degree.
  • PMP or CSM certification is preferred.
  • Experience with change management on IT or business product implementations and collaborating across teams to include ones not deeply involved with.
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce Service or Sales Cloud, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, and Sharepoint.
  • Experience balancing priorities across multiple teams.
  • Procurement, grant compliance experience preferred.
  • Product management and basic data architecture preferred.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.

Compensation and Benefits

AARP offers a competitive compensation and benefits package including a 401(k); 100% company-funded pension plan; health, dental, and vision plans; life insurance; paid time off to include company and individual holidays, vacation, sick, caregiving, and parental leave; performance-based and peer-based recognition; tuition reimbursement; among others.

For this position, we anticipate offering a salary between $85,500 - $95,000 per year. This role is also eligible to participate in an annual incentive plan with a percentage up to 12%. Bonus eligibility is dependent upon organizational and individual performance.
