Manager, Product Management - Data As A Product

It's an exciting time in Enterprise Supplier Management (ESM) as we continue to expand our data and machine learning capabilities to enhance Capital One's third party risk mitigation efforts.

We are seeking a Manager, Product Management to join our ESM Strategic Capabilities Team. In ESM, we empower associates to deliver their best by cultivating a culture of inclusion and belonging, where varying perspectives and opinions are valued. We embrace each other's differences and encourage all team members to lean into their talents and skills to deliver superior experiences for both internal and external clients.

As a candidate for this role you'll understand the usage of data, the importance of data governance, and how to balance these needs to produce easy-to-use and well-governed data products. You're able to seamlessly switch from deep diving users' needs and data challenges, to discussing solutions and prioritization. You are passionate about working with new and emerging technologies, while ensuring the underlying data is accurate and appropriately structured to support these new capabilities.

What you'll do
  • Craft and deliver an ongoing product roadmap for ESM's data journey
  • Collaborate with data producers and consumers (Data Scientists, Analysts & Engineers) to define their Product capability needs and prioritize delivery of data structures / processes that add most value
  • Be an advocate for data governance, ensuring that everything we build meets our high standards while providing a frictionless user experience
  • Integrate business analytics in every aspect of design and development, and define metrics to measure the success of products
  • Use data to transform the way we work, always looking at how we can continually grow
  • Lead refinement activities within an Agile team, translating proposed solutions into well-written user stories, using Agile best practices to create a fully-developed product backlog with a future view of upcoming features for developers and other technical stakeholders
  • Keep stakeholders constantly informed of your product--from executive roadmaps to customer needs, from bug fixes to release notes, and more--knowing what to communicate in the right way, at the right time, to the right people

What we're looking for
  • You've got product experience, covering areas like roadmap building, prioritization, user story mapping and backlog management
  • You are an effective communicator, passionate about collaborating with technically minded data users and engineers, but you can also translate for non-technical stakeholders
  • You have experience of identifying business opportunities and translating them into data products in the technology or digital arenas
  • You're technical, with a strong analytical mindset and ability to use data and logic to make compelling business cases
  • Your background is likely focused on data engineering or analytics and you may even know how to program
  • You're a pragmatic decision maker, comfortable balancing competing demands to deliver Business value
  • You work well with diverse teams, and are great at managing your stakeholder relationships - you also break down jargon to fit your audience needs
  • You're excited about getting into the details of data technology solutions

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 3 year of product management experience or at least 3 year of experience in product design, agile delivery, business analysis, data science, or software engineering

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
  • 3+ years prior experience as a digital Product Manager / Owner, or 3+ years of experience in product design, agile delivery, business analysis, data science, or software engineering
  • 3+ years demonstrable experience managing a digital product in an Agile environment
