Dewberry is seeking a Controls Technician for the DC area.

This position will focus on the control systems and getting that system programmed and commissioned. They must be able to support remote workers over the phone or internet, as well as work in the field. Needs to give clear direction and be able to troubleshoot mechanical and control systems clearly and accurately. At times they will need to travel to remote sites and direct work locally, enforcing quality and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Mechanical skills related to HVAC equipment should include a detailed knowledge of how common HVAC equipment is constructed and operated in buildings. Must be able to read and construct by following blueprints for MEPS.
  • Diagnosing malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Familiarity with work orders, building plans, and installation manuals in order to determine materials requirements and installation procedures.
  • Reading contract drawings.
  • Works from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications, locating and diagnosing trouble in the system or equipment.
  • Ability to execute according to schedule, meeting deadlines.
  • Keep up team morale.
  • Maintain positive relationship with end client.
  • Installing and mounting electronic controls, device, panels, sensors, and components.
  • Performing interlock wiring as required.
  • Testing control systems and sequences of operation using testing devices and procedures. Document the results.
  • Knowledge of a variety of systems is needed, with preference for Niagara, JCI, Distech, Lynxspring, Honeywell, and Siemens.
  • Knowledge of computer networking specifically in the OT environment.
  • Ability to configure remote connections to systems.
  • Basic cybersecurity skills are required, especially the ability to follow hardening guides and document compliance.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all background, security, and clearances required to perform the duties of this position in a Federal environment.

Working Conditions
  • Professional on-site office and maintenance environment.
  • Must be physically and mentally able to perform duties for eight hour periods of time.
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed to meet the demands of this position. This includes completing timesheets and daily work reports.
  • Physically able to move about in a construction environment to include walking, stooping, bending, stretching, and climbing ladders and stairs.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Must maintain a safe, productive, and professional work environment.


Work location: DC Area, 25% travel
