Dewberry is currently seeking a Electrical Controls Junior Project Manager for Northern, VA or the DC Metro location.

The Jr Project Manager is part of our Design Build business at Dewberry. You will work with experienced project managers on complex, multi-million dollar electrical and controls construction projects primarily in the Northern Virginia area, some may be outside this area. Must be a U.S. citizen with an ability to obtain a security clearance. Will travel to customer site as required by the project, may travel up to 30% or more at times.

Under general direction, responsible for the profitable execution of assigned Projects. Ideally candidate will have trade experience working as a Controls Installer or Electrician, and some experience as a Controls Technician with startup experience. Ensures that assigned projects are done accurately, on-time, within budget and within scope of the contract. Ensures work performed is in compliance with state, local and Federal legal requirements and operates on the job with the highest of ethics. In cooperation with Safety, ensures staff and subcontractors work in a safe manner. Responsible for following consistent and repeatable project management procedures and processes, documenting these as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as the primary on-site leader for execution teams on assigned projects. Develops detailed project schedules and implements according to plan for assigned projects.
  • Manages risks and establishes project recovery plans when required. Resolves disputes with minimal need for critical issue.
  • Manages subcontracts.
  • Ensures project document controls are in compliance with contract requirements and DDB standards.
  • Oversees project construction for compliance with specifications, local codes and installation techniques.
  • Manages the ordering and delivery schedule of materials to be procured for the projects assigned.
  • Develops and maintains viable long-term relationships with customers, consultants, prime contractors and subcontractors. Attends job progress meetings as required. Ensures subcontractors understand expectations of the project.
  • Ensures any work performed by the field team is in accordance with established standards.


Required Skills & Required Experience

  • Experience is required, a Bachelor's degree in a related area is a bonus.
  • Minimum of five years of direct experience in the controls.
  • A manufacturer certification from Niagara, Distech, Siemens, Honeywell, Lynxspring, or major vendor is required. Preference is for Niagara.
  • Basic networking skills, including setup and troubleshooting.
  • Management experience with projects related to Mechanical Retrofits, HVAC controls, and BAS management is desired.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to communicate technical material to a non-technical audience.
  • Proficient in Project Management software.
  • Strong Personal Computer working capabilities in MS Office (Excel, Word, Project), Bluebeam Revu, AutoCAD, Visio and basic Windows environment.
  • Travel will vary on project assignment. Projects may exist outside of assigned geography.
  • Able to complete multiple contractor and multiple scopes of work simultaneously.
  • Experience in dealing with a large and diverse number of simultaneous challenges, requiring knowledge of many different subject areas.

Work location: Northern Virginia, DC Metro, 30% travel
