Project Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO)
Dewberry is looking to hire a Site Safety and Health Officer for US Army Corps of Engineers-regulated projects. This position is a key member of the project leadership staff, and will report directly to the Senior Project Manager, and indirectly to the Corporate HSE Manager. This position must be able to both gain and maintain needed access to US government installations through the completion of a background check and must be completed prior to an offer of employment.
Must be able to obtain TS/sci with poly. Active clcearance is preferred.

Responsibilities
- Day-to-day safety and health management for their assigned project/s
- Development, management, and update of the Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and associated Activity Hazard Analysis'
- Onsite safety and health training and education requirements for employees and subs
- Organizing and completing toolbox talks and other required safety meetings
- Maintains Safety Data Sheets onsite
- Onsite anytime project work is occurring
- Completion of daily site inspections and reports
- Manages all identified safety issues with help of project personnel and management
- Provides safety management and oversight of site-specific safety activities (ex. crane operations, working at heights, scaffolding, etc.)
- Demonstrates in depth knowledge of OSHA standards and EM385-1-1
- Conducts incident investigations and completes required incident reports
- Provides safety orientations for project personnel
- Maintains applicable safety documents onsite
- Manages SOH deficiency log
- Assists with other project responsibilities as assigned

Required Qualifications :

- The 30-hour OSHA General Industry safety class (may be web-based training if the student is able to directly ask questions of the instructor by chat or phone)
or
- The 30-hour OSHA Construction Industry safety class (may be web-based training if the student is able to directly ask questions of the instructor by chat/phone
- NOTE: If the 30-hour training course card was completed/received more than 12 months ago, must be able to furnish proof of at least 8 hours documented formal training since the card was earned.
Required Experience :
- Five (5) years of continuous construction industry safety experience in supervising/ managing general construction (managing safety programs or processes or conducting hazard analyses and developing controls),
or
- Five (5) years of continuous general industry safety experience in supervising/ managing general industry (managing safety programs or processes or conducting hazard analyses and developing controls)
or
- If the SSHO has a Third-Party, Nationally Accredited (ANSI or National Commission for Certifying Agencies - NCCA) SOH-related certification, only 4 years of experience is needed.
