Human Language Translation Specialist

IntelliBridge is an award-winning national security company with an immediate opening for a Human Language Translation Specialist to support the Language Services Section (LSS) Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) Program as a specialist to streamline and enhance operational translation workflows. This includes supporting the implementation of HLT/CAT software such as translation memory (TM) and terminology database (TB), as well as machine translation (MT) and optical character recognition (OCR) as part of the translation workflow.
The candidate will work closely with the linguist and English monitor user base, IT, LSS leadership, and other relevant stakeholders, as directed by the CAT program manager’s priorities. You will be responsible for testing new HLT software and working with the CAT team to develop processes to assist end users in their use of Human Language Technologies. Whether you are an HTL end user or technologist, having HLT/CAT Admin Experience is a plus. This position is exempt.

Clearance: Active Top Secret clearance is required at time of application. Candidate must have the ability to successfully complete a Counterintelligence (CI) Polygraph examination if successful CI Poly has not been recorded within the past five years.

Responsibilities/Duties:

• Assist in managing translation projects using HLT tools and workflows.
• Assist in pre-processing of translation projects by applying OCR, preparing source files, and/or extracting text.
• Manage and maintain translation memories (TM) and terminology databases (TB).
• Train users at basic and intermediate levels on the use of HLT tools in person and via Skype.
• Provide user support by troubleshooting workflow issues via email, Skype, and in person.
• Generate, track, and analyze metrics to provide solution recommendations.
• Gather end-user requirements to generate business and technical requirements.
• Participate in internal and external technical exchanges to provide and receive updates.
• Document and maintain user guides for different HLT tools.
• Test, pilot, evaluate and deploy new HLT technology in accordance with customer requirements.
• Identify gaps and provide HLT recommendations on standardized and ad-hoc workflows.
• Educate stakeholders about HLT via briefings, demos and trainings.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in science, technology, engineering, or foreign language).
• Ability to grasp new technical concepts quickly and adapt to technology changes.
• Ability to communicate technical ideas to be understood by laypeople (written and spoken).
• Experience using Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Access/Outlook) and SharePoint.
• Linguist/translator experience and/or Language Service Provider (LSP) experience.
• Experience with SDL Trados, SDL MultiTerm, Lilt, OCR software, and/or machine translation software is preferred.
• Project management skills and/or experience is preferred.
• IT troubleshooting and tech support is preferred.
• Experience in the Law Enforcement Community or Intelligence Community is preferred.
