Senior Communications/Outreach Manager

Job Summary

Aptive Resources is seeking a Senior Communications/Outreach Manager with a strong background in strategic communications to support innovative science efforts for a federal client. The manager will be responsible for developing and implementing the communications and outreach efforts for the market intelligence outreach efforts, which include stakeholder engagement and regional events.

This position requires a strategic mindset and a clear understanding of writing and research best practices. A successful candidate will be highly organized, proactive, and motivated to succeed. S/he should be able to work comfortably both independently and as part of a larger team and will be expected to contribute to finding innovative solutions to complex problems.

This is a Senior-level, full-time position located in Alexandria, VA . This position may also be remote and is a contingent hire.

Primary Responsibilities

• Responsible for demonstrating exemplary strategic communication and problem-solving skills with business owners, peers, management, and contract staff.
• Responsible for making communications decisions related to overall project quality.
• Responsible for exhibiting knowledge, skills, and ability to plan, conduct, adhere to timelines, and supervise work to be completed under this contract.
• Responsible for exhibiting knowledge of strategic intent and opportunities.
• Translating agency strategy into tangible executable actions and deliver the results needed to satisfy the vision supporting the strategy.
• A strong writer and editor for a wide range of content to include technical and scientific content to writing short and catchy promotional content.
• Excellent communication skills, is a strong multitasker and is comfortable with Microsoft Office and graphic design tools and collaboration tools, which currently include Zoom, Box, and Slack.

Minimum Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in communications and outreach.
• Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or business administration.
• Experience developing and executing communication plans, campaigns, products and familiarity with incorporating events into a communications plan
• Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

• Masters Degree in a related field
• Ability to get up to speed quickly on complex issues; desire to work in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.
• Capable self-starter with a drive to get all types of work done and high attention to detail.
