Job Summary
Aptive is seeking a dedicated, forward looking Senior Software-System Architect to support digital transformation within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This individual will work with the Office of Information Technology (OIT) to support the administration's mission with activities such as: project and product line management; Agile and Scaled Agile practices; and operations processes to DevSecOps best practices such as Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD). We are seeking an individual committed to delivering and improving quality services to Veterans.
A Senior Software/System Architect must have extensive experience in the coordination of program and project leaders to identify requirements for system architecture. Must be able to identify strategies for addressing requirements. Must have extensive experience with analysis of requirements against fiscal, schedule, and performance issues. Has extensive experience in taking program requirements and is able to create an architecture vision having experience in high volume and high availability networks and systems. Experience in creating and conveying to team members the architectural vision for a program or project. Is responsible for dictating design choices to software developers, including but not limited to: platforms, coding and technical levels. Experience in establishing and enforcing standards and practices. Overseeing the development team and manages the full life cycle of the software development process. Has extensive software development experience and thorough knowledge of a variety of programming languages and logic.
As architect, the delivery of integrated strategic, technical, engineering, and programmatic support for the Target State Architecture and Migration Plan and for the continued evolution of the systems used by VA to accomplish its mission. This includes systems and computer engineering support, technical/IT architecture, technical assessment, strategic planning and analysis support, and risk management support.
Technical architecture support services will maintain and integrate with the VA Enterprise Architecture office, as well as at the portfolio and product line levels. These services include the development and implementation of the technical assessments, strategic technology planning, solution and system technology architectures, and systems engineering.
This Senior Associate level, full-time position is a remote opportunity; occasional travel will be required.
This is a contingent hire position.

Minimum Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or Other Engineering or Technical Discipline is required.
(10 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.). - 10 years related experience required
- Experience with ASP.NET, VB.NET, C#, Entity Framework, JQuery, AJAZ, and Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML).
- Extensive experience in Microsoft Azure Cloud
- Must have extensive experience with analysis of requirements against fiscal, schedule, and performance issues.
- Has extensive software development experience and thorough knowledge of a variety of programming languages and logic.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience supporting large Cabinet-level federal agencies, ideally the Department of Veterans Affairs.
- Ability to get up to speed quickly on complex issues; desire to work in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.
- Capable self-starter with a drive to get all types of work done and high attention to detail.
- Excellent ability to communicate across most mediums and settings.
- Knowledge of military and Veteran populations.
