NJVC approaches the work with the intensity expected of a mission-critical IT provider, working within the framework of people, processes, and technologies to meet customer requirements.
The DOT (Department of Transportation) Enterprise Information Technology Shared Services (EITSS) supports the department's office of the chief information officer in developing and implementing an enterprise IT infrastructure and common operating environment across DOT.
The Sr. Microsoft System Administrator will provide Windows engineering support and will be responsible for building, patching, and troubleshooting Windows servers in support of current and future DOT systems and applications. The Sr. Microsoft System Administrator will be working with a team of server engineers to troubleshoot issues for multiple systems in multiple data center locations. The Sr. Microsoft System Administrator will provide support, implementation, and design services for Windows-based systems across the enterprise. The Sr. Microsoft System Administrator will be responsible for resolving and completing assigned tasks and change requests and will act as an escalation for support issues. The Sr. Microsoft System Administrator will also be responsible for applying new solutions through research and collaboration with team members and will be advising on the course of actions for new application initiatives.

Responsibilities
Work you'll do
As a Sr. Microsoft System Administrator within the DOT (Department of Transportation) Enterprise Information Technology Shared Services ( EITSS ) team, you will:
- Manage Windows OS-based computer devices through Active Directory, Group Policy Objects, registry, and file system security as needed
- Administer systems infrastructure both on-premises and in the cloud
- Collaborate with other team members to perform server patching and maintenance
- Evaluate hardware and software purchases
- Manage 2000+ servers across multiple field site locations
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory (Windows 2016 thru Windows 2022)
- Manage and lead systems and infrastructure projects
- Follow existing incident, problem, release, and change management processes
- Support existing server infrastructure in a 24x7 on-call escalation capacity as part of a team rotation
- Provide high-level technical support for Tier-3 issue escalations/tickets
- Design and implement Citrix solutions
- Managing and monitoring a Citrix platform
- Troubleshooting Citrix-related issues
- Remediating security vulnerabilities detected within the Citrix environment
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of experience administrating and managing servers and systems, cloud infrastructure, file, and print environments, specializing in Windows operating systems
- Must possess a Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) - Server Infrastructure or equivalent experience
- Background check and the ability to obtain a Public Trust
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to work independently and yet be effective within a team setting
- Must be capable of managing multiple efforts with time-related constraints in a fast-paced contracting environment
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals
- Friendly presence, helpful attitude, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with others
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications
- Experience working in a home office setting as well as the ability to train end users on frequently asked technical issues.
- Ability to provide technical assistance and support over the phone with good phone skills and a professional demeanor
- Previous customer service experience strongly desired
- Good problem-solving skills with the ability to visualize a problem or situation and think abstractly to solve it
