Duties

Clinical Duties: Provide a full range of specialized addiction psychiatry services such as evaluations, diagnosis, treatment planning, and other psychological or psycho-therapeutic services; and psychopharmacology. Psychiatry services are provided primarily via videoconferencing and other tele-psychiatry-based means but may be provided in person. Provide services to clients 16 and older. Clinical services provided include but are not limited to the following: pharmacotherapy, assessments, stabilization, psychotherapy, medication monitoring, consultations, and medication-assisted treatment (MAT).

This vacancy will be filled through OPM's Direct Hire Authority. Veterans' Preference and traditional rating and ranking of applicants do not apply to positions filled under this announcement.

Background Investigation: If you are selected for this vacancy, you must undergo a pre-employment fingerprint check and background investigation. Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

Licensure: Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

Graduate Training: Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, a candidate must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training.

Residency Training: 5 years of residency training in a Medical Specialty OR have equivalent training and work experience in a Medical Specialty (e.g., a senior specialist with 3-4 years of experience beyond residency training) that demonstrates the ability to provide patient care of an extremely difficult and responsible level.

In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below-

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: provide psychiatric diagnosis and treatment services (preventive, curative, and rehabilitative) to individuals, couples, families and groups. Special problems areas include mental illness, physical illness, crisis and emergencies, victims of violence and sexual assaults, substance abuse, self-destructive behaviors, marital and family dysfunction, child and elderly victims of abuse and neglect, learning and vocational problems and socioeconomic issues.

You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.

The locality rate of pay will vary based on telework site and/or designated duty station location identified for workplace flexibility.

Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave.

Title 38 Market Pay is Authorized.
