Responsibilities
Work Schedule:
Normal schedule is Monday - Friday, 9 hours between 6:45am and 3:45pm, with a one-hour (non-paid) lunch.
No on-call, weekends, or holidays required.
Position Summary: This position is an 8 hour a day desk job. This position focuses is on Telephone Health and military personnel readiness. Telephone notifications are received from the appointment line via a computer based system. The system notifies the RN who the patients are and why they called. The Telephone Triage RN returns those calls to Triage the patients that have symptoms of various conditions for acuity. Based on this determination we 1) determine if there is an emergent need to tell the patient to report to the Emergency Room, 2) schedule an appointment with the providers, or 3) advise how to treat ailments at home. We also order refills for medications, notify about labs, and disseminate care directions on behalf of the providers. The Telephone Triage RN will only see patients if the Technicians need assistance giving medications, for upgrade training or if something irregular has occurred where a provider needs our assistance. Many of the below Job Specific items are rare especially since the Warrior Clinic is now for Active duty personnel. All Minimum Qualifications are required in the rare events conscious sedation etc. is needed by one of the providers.
Job Specific Duties: The type of work may include, but is not limited to, the following:
• Coordinate patient care in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare professionals. Facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality and cost effectiveness.
• Ensure compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the MTF.
• Perform health histories.
• Provide health promotions, counseling, and education.
• Administer medications and numerous other personalized interventions to include, but not limited to, conscious sedation during applicable procedures.
• Direct and supervise care provided by other healthcare professionals.
• Accountable for making patient care assignments based on the scope of practice and skill level of assigned personnel.
• Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergency situations.
• Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.
• Make referral appointments and arrange specialty care as appropriate.
• Conduct research in support of improved practice and patient outcomes.
• Documentation. Contractor employees shall prepare all documentation to meet or exceed established MTF standards, to include, but not limited to: timeliness, accuracy, content, and signature.
• Medical Records Documentation. Health care providers shall complete medical records documentation within 72 business hours of the encounter with the patient.
• Coding. Contractor employees shall use the proper coding of procedures and treatment, and shall maintain coding accuracy (CPT/E&M/procedure) at the same standard, 90% or higher, as military and civil service health care providers engaged in comparable work.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
* Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing or minimum of 3 years of nursing experience with an Associate Degree of Nursing may be considered. Graduate from a college or university accredited by National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
* Experience: Shall have a minimum of 36 months of relevant experience as a Registered Nurse within the last 48 months. Experience in conscious sedation is required.
* License: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in any state.
* Life Support Certification: Possess a current AHA or ARC BLS Healthcare Provider & Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required.
* Security: Must possess ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.
