Principal Associate, Financial Planning & Analysis (Expense Horizontals; Commercial )

Capital One is seeking a motivated professional fo r a Principal Associate position within the Commercial Bank Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team. FP&A associates are engaged and insightful partners working across the Finance and Commercial Bank organizations to conduct robust financial analysis, proactive risk management, astute reporting of financial results, timely highlighting of efficiency opportunities, all the while influencing stakeholders. FP&A strives to enable a strong culture of finance management that is adaptable to a changing environment.

This position will focus on the Commercial Bank's Expense Horizontals (i.e., Commercial Bank Operations, Commercial Business Risk Office, Commercial Product Management, and Commercial Underwriting and Portfolio Management) and require engagement between various business partners and adjacent stakeholders. Ability to direct the work of others with demonstrated problem solving, influencing, and communication skills along with an ability to work strategically within and beyond the Finance division will contribute to the candidate's success.

General Responsibilities:
  • Look laterally across all Commercial Bank LOBs and focus on individual expense line items to analyze trends, glean insights, and help drive long-term transformation of the way the Commercial Bank operates
  • Lead vendor management best practices across the entire Commercial Bank and partner with stakeholders in Enterprise Supplier Management and Accountable Executives to drive long-term cost optimization
  • Drive improvements in the Finance team's ability to deliver more automated/push-button reporting that enables value-added discussions
  • Identify opportunities and collaborate within and beyond FP&A to mature our operational framework ensuring effective practices, governance, and financial rigor
  • Contribute to the enhancement of the Finance organization's analysis and reporting as it pertains to actionable impacts such as technology and workplace solutions
  • Participate in and execute other special projects for the team on a periodic basis
  • Identify and drive process improvements within Finance while developing and maintaining documentation to include procedures, presentations, and training materials

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in Financial Services, at least 3 years of Audit experience, at least 3 years of FP&A experience, or a combination
  • Robust experience in using financial systems to extract, manipulate, and analyze data

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and autonomously to meet deadlines and deliverables
  • Prior experience in supply chain finance or operational finance

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Location is New York City: $118,700 - $135,400 for Principal Financial Analyst

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
