AARP's Community, State and National Affairs (CSN) Group includes Government Relations, Programs, Volunteer Engagement, Community Outreach and Advocacy at the federal, state and local levels. The Financial Operations Analyst provides financial and analytical support across CSN states and National groups, including budgeting, forecasting, monitoring monthly financial close, procurement management and financial strategy reporting. The person in this role will also identify financial risks and opportunities and provide insightful recommendations to increase effectiveness and efficiency. This person will interact regularly with group-level leadership and maintain extensive and regular contact with senior-level staff. This person will have effective persuasion and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Processes and prepares accounting entries. Accesses and navigates financial systems to conduct research and run reports.
  • Processes and verifies invoice coding of expenses and validates accuracy. Approves project-owned vouchers prior to payment approval. Reviews requisitions and vouchers submitted to ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures and ensures completion of annual certification. Reconciles revenue management systems data for consistency, naming conventions, and cleanliness.
  • Manages execution of contracts and ensures compliance with contract management. Provides financial budgeting support for a business unit or department. Creates training guides and presentations on a variety of financial procedures and policies.
  • Generates financial forecasts and budgets driven by identifying key assumptions and dependencies. Manages quarterly funds transfer process. Responds to internal client inquiries on forecast system. Trains other staff on revenue management systems and informs them of standard processes.

  • Participates as key stakeholder in systems implementations, including advising on business requirements, development, and maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in financial analysis, planning, budget preparation, and administration; or an equivalent combination of training and knowledge.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously within a continually changing environment.
  • Must be results-oriented, customer focused, and have demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Requires superior written and oral communication skills and excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and partnership development skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Adept at conveying complex financial concepts and analyses to non-financial management and staff.
  • Proficient use of MS Office Suite products (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Tableau experience preferred.
  • Experience in delivering financial-related training and creating job aids preferred.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)
AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
