Budget & Finance Assistant for the Provost Office Budget Team The George Mason University Office of the Provost is seeking two remote, part-time (20 - 30 hours per week) Budget & Finance Assistants to provide support to the Provost Office Budget team, aligning expenses/budget with actuals as approved, tracking commitments, and pulling financial reports. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.Responsibilities:Alignment Of Budgets and Expenses:Works closely with assigned Senior Analyst team to enter corrections in the ERP system and other templates to align budget and expense as directed. This work requires great attention to detail and review to ensure errors are not made. Successful candidates would be expected to proactively resolve mistakes and provide effective communication, and ensure all tracking documentation requirements are fulfilled at the time of completion.Tracking Commitments:Works closely with assigned Senior Analyst team to input commitments into internal tracking lists. Proactively gathers and files documentation and information to meet internal SOPs for each entry. Disseminate information as requested ensuring effective communication and providing excellent customer service in a calm professional manner to all key customer groups, including, but not limited to, the Office of the Provost, Office of the Senior Vice President, members of the Provost's Senior Staff, Chief Business Officers, colleagues, and co-workers.Report Generating:Works closely with assigned Senior Analyst team to pull and refine reports for customers including, but not limited to, reconciliation, position control, monthly reviews with senior leadership, commitment tracking reports, etc. Research issues as assigned and disseminate information in a timely manner. Proactively notates discrepancies and raises them to appropriate Senior Analyst for review/action.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience;Basic knowledge of accounting procedures and software;Detail oriented with the ability to track information from multiple sources and provide concise, easily understood summary data encompassing all data;Ability to manage multiple priorities;Strong listening and comprehension skills;Intermediate to advance MS Office skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams;Basic experience using Adobe for editing documents;Ability to follow and interpret rules and policies;Ability to maintain harmonious working relationships with a population of diverse individuals; andAbility to maintain confidentiality.Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of Ellucian Banner and MicroStrategy;Experience creating and manipulating Adobe Acrobat pdf files; andExperience working on a hybrid team.
