Knowledge ManagerThe George Mason University Office of Advancement and Alumni Relations invites qualified candidates to apply for a full-time Knowledge Manager position. The University Advancement division is a comprehensive development and alumni relations enterprise with a staff complement of approximately 135 full-time employees. Functional units within Advancement include development/fundraising, alumni relations, stewardship and donor relations, advancement communications, special events, gift processing, research, prospect management, gift planning, corporate and foundation relations, information systems and management, and infrastructure services.Advancement's mission is to build strong, lifelong relationships with George Mason University's alumni and constituents, while matching their philanthropic interests with the university's aspirations and priorities. The position is primarily responsible for creating resources and training for the Advancement and Alumni Relations office.The Knowledge Manager will focus on researching and implementing knowledge-sharing techniques to identify areas of improvement and improve the siloed nature of the Advancement and Alumni Relations office. This position will identify and plan All Staff meetings and retreats and create a Microsoft Teams group and resource for the Advancement team. The Knowledge Manager will provide project management and internal consulting for the Office of Advancement and Alumni Relations.Responsibilities:Applies theories and principles of knowledge sharing and organizational development to help increase the productivity of Advancement & Alumni Relations;Researches and identifies areas in need of increased knowledge sharing for the betterment of the Advancement office;Conducts interviews and spends time learning the ins and outs of all Central Advancement teams to identify pain points, need for resources, external resources to share with the units, and potential training opportunities;Creates Advancement onboarding resources to include: Central Advancement Teams Intro PowerPoint/videos for new hires, SharePoint pages for Central Advancement teams to help knowledge share what resources each team can provide and creation of onboarding training that can help acclimate new hires quickly;Plans out All Staff meetings and retreats with the All-Staff Engagement Committee;Identifies lunch and learns/brown bags to grow capacity and knowledge of Mason resources;Supports individuals and teams to define the problems they are seeking to solve and helps facilitate communication between the team(s) who should work together;Helps departments to review processes and procedures and redesign as needed; andCreates retreats for individual teams with Advancement to help promote growth and the creation of real, obtainable goals.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree required or the equivalent level of training and experience;Exceptional attention to detail; solid analytical and problem-solving skills;Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to listen and express ideas and thoughts effectively;Professional demeanor; positive and helpful attitude; solid customer service orientation;Ability to interact positively with a wide range of constituencies in person, via telephone, email, and in writing;High level of integrity, solid judgment, and the ability to both self-initiate and ask for guidance as needed;Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, follow through on projects and be proactive and solution-oriented;Ability to work collaboratively as part of a small, highly efficient team;Ability to handle frequent interruptions and a fast-paced work environment;Must be proactive, creative and have a high level of energy and enthusiasm;Commitment to adopting best practices and operational efficiency;A desire to continuously learn with a preferred interest in garnering fundraising experience;Solid knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office software, web browsers, and email;Excellent Microsoft Outlook calendaring knowledge and experience;Requires an understanding of the offices, departments, and the organization and priorities of the University as a whole; andAbility to handle highly personal information and maintain confidentiality.Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree in organization development and knowledge sharing preferred;Several (typically 2+) years of experience working in an administrative capacity; andExperience in an Advancement/Development office.
