Graduate CoordinatorThe George Mason University Economics Department is seeking a Graduate Coordinator to assist and support the Director of Economics Graduate Programs in all aspects of the economics graduate programs. In addition, the Graduate Coordinator will advise graduate students regarding all aspects of graduate student and university life. Responsibilities:Assist and support the Director of Economics Graduate Programs with constructing, reviewing, and reforming program policies, processes and procedures to ensure the Economics Graduate Programs Office complies with college and university policies;The Graduate Coordinator is tasked with continuously monitoring, explaining, and interpreting these organizational policies and processes and briefing the Director and other members of the Graduate Programs Office;The Coordinator is responsible for facilitating the flow of information among the members of the Graduate Programs Office;The Coordinator is expected to effectively communicate Director's decisions to students, the Economics Department, college personnel, and other university units;The Coordinator briefs the Director on anticipated and expected commitments by the Graduate Programs Office, and confers with the Director regarding innovative strategic improvements and planning to sustain the efficient management of the Graduate Programs Office; andThe Graduate Coordinator is responsible for advising graduate students regarding all aspects of graduate student and university life including academic progress, degree requirements and deadlines, financial aid, career development, course registration, and administrative policies and procedures.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and related experience;Independent and responsible work experience entailing office management with significant public contact, preferably in an academic setting;Experience with PC-based or Mac systems and general office equipment;Proficient at PC-based or Mac software packages to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, webpage maintenance;Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with diverse clientele;Ability to coordinate complex activities in support of student enrollment, financial aid, career planning, and student life;Ability to track financial accounts, gather data, and compile reports to support program goals and objectives;Ability to collect, organize, and manipulate data as it relates to admissions, enrollments, and financial aid procedures; andAbility to work effectively in an environment that sometimes requires working independently, and sometimes requires working on a team.Preferred Quailfications:Knowledge of basic university procedures and policies;Experience with Ellucian Banner;Experience with Web analytics tools, MicroStrategy, Salesforce/TargetX or other application products;Experience with learning management systems (I.e., Blackboard); andExperience in an academic setting.
