Grant Writer, Office of the ProvostGeorge Mason University, Office of the Provost, invites applications for the Grant Writer position. This position is responsible for writing and facilitating the development of grant proposals. It will report to the Associate Director of Strategic Engagement and Communications. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.Responsibilities:The Grant Writer has responsibilities in the following areas: Grant WritingWrite, edit, revise, proofread, and submit grants;Assisting with specific proposal development, including interpreting grant requirements and developing proposal writing plans and timelines;Work collaboratively with stakeholders to solicit input into content, organization, wording, and tone of the full document; andAssist with formatting and editing of figures and other graphical proposal elements.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, or other relevant writing-focused field, or equivalent education and experience;Experience in reading, comprehending, interpreting and adhering to grant proposal guidelines;Excellent research, time management, organizational and project management skills; strong attention to detail;Excellent oral and written communications skills; andExperience with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point).Preferred Qualifications:Experience in higher education; understanding of university sponsored programs and grant procedures;Knowledge of federal funding / grant opportunities, various funding agency or Foundations requirements and proposal submission procedures; andAbility to effectively coordinate and communicate with diverse faculty, staff and administrators across multiple disciplines and administrative offices.
