This 12-month faculty position provides oversight in a variety of administrative functions related to student affairs, from recruitment through graduation. The position coordinates with colleagues inside and outside of the College of Science in order to provide the highest quality learning experience for the college's students. In particular the Associate Dean for Undergraduate and Graduate Student Affairs supervises the college's Student Affairs personnel by serving as Student Affairs liaison and a student advocate on behalf of COS (Registrar's Office, Student Accounts, Admissions Office, OIPS, Disability Services, Academic Integrity, University Counsel, Student Support and Advocacy Center, Dean of Students. The incumbent also serves on relevant university committees and oversees preparations and attends COS academic events such as graduation, ScienceConnect, GTA training, among the others.Additional duties include but are not limited to:Assists as needed with semester grade submissions for COS;Manages the Dean's Lists;Serves as the INTO Mason Liaison for COS;Serves as the Honors Program application reviewer for COS students;Oversees graduate student advising (including processing, procedure, and paperwork) and undergraduate student advising;Responsible for undergraduate student affairs including review of requests for exceptions to university policy, student complaints and concerns, etc.;Oversees GTA evaluations. Serves as Graduate Council and Undergraduate Council representative or attendee for COS;Monitors student retention and graduation rates and collaborates with relevant colleagues to take actionable steps toward improvement;Oversees the college's efforts in undergraduate and graduate student recruitment, including on campus and external events; andResponsible for graduate student affairs including review of requests for exceptions to university policy, dissertation/theses, embargo approvals, graduation paperwork and clearance, student complaints and concerns, etc.Required Qualifications:PhD in related field;Significant related work experience;The ability to effectively manage a team of established professionals;Ability to build positive relationships and effectively collaborate with students, parents, colleagues, employees, and external partners;An established track record of serving as a student administrator, preferably in higher education;The ability to support a culture of inclusion;Excellent administrative, analytical, communication, managerial, and problem-solving skills;Ability to think strategically and lead initiatives that affect and involve an array of stakeholders;Ability to manage highly sensitive information appropriately, utilize online systems for student affairs effectively, and communicate complex policies and procedures to students, faculty, staff, and parents clearly and effectively; andExperience in organizing resources and establishing priorities.Preferred Qualifications:Understanding of higher education institution policies; experience as administrator in higher education setting preferred; andComputer literacy skills to include experience with student information systems (i.e. Banner) and scheduling systems (i.e. 25Live), etc.
