Assistant Professor, Climate Dynamics (Tenure-Track) The George Mason University, Department of Atmospheric, Oceanic and Earth Sciences (AOES) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Climate Dynamics. Responsibilities:The successful applicant will demonstrate the potential to conduct original research and teach graduate and undergraduate courses including but not limited to air-sea interactions, cloud microphysics and cloud-aerosol interactions, radiation, oceanography. Applicants are expected to demonstrate a commitment to mentorship, service and the promotion of access, justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion. The incumbent will be expected to build a vibrant, externally funded research program that addresses scientific problems focused on the intersection between climate science and earth system modeling (data-driven and theory-based). Priority will be given to applications for the rank of Assistant Professor, but applications from those at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor may be considered.Required Qualifications:PhD in Meteorology, Earth, Ocean, Atmospheric or Climate Science or a related field;Substantial evidence of high-quality academic scholarship commensurable with the rank; andExperience conducting research using Earth system models and cutting-edge data analysis components of the Earth system.Preferred Qualifications:Preference will be given to candidates with experience in application and development of machine learning techniques at the intersection of advancing physical and dynamical models.About Us:The Atmospheric, Oceanic and Earth Sciences department offers undergraduate degrees in Atmospheric Sciences, Earth Science and Geology, MS degrees in Earth System Science and Climate Science, and a PhD in Climate Dynamics.
