Director of ComplianceThe George Mason University Intercollegiate Athletics department, an NCAA Division I institution and member of the Atlantic 10 athletic conference, is seeking qualified applicants for a Director of Compliance. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason's academic and culturally inclusive environment.About the Position:The Director of Compliance reports to the Deputy Athletic Director for Compliance and NCAA Governance, and will assist in ensuring athletics operations and activities comply with NCAA, conference, and institutional rules.Responsibilities:Monitor and track financial aid awarded to student-athletes, academic and athletic eligibility of student-athletes, recruitment of prospective student-athletes, playing and practice seasons, and perform other NCAA, conference, and institution compliance duties;Work with Admissions, Financial Aid, the Registrar, and other campus constituents;Assist coaches and incoming student-athletes in working through the Mason admissions process and NCAA eligibility certification;Maintain accurate and organized records;Assist in developing and implementing timely education programs for coaches and student athletes;Provide accurate interpretations of NCAA, conference, and institutional rules, regulations, processes, and procedures;Prepare and submit NCAA and A10 waivers and student athlete reinstatement requests; andInvestigate and report NCAA violations as needed.Required Qualifications:Advanced degree or equivalent combination of education and experience;Significant compliance related experience;Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and work with frequent interruptions; andEffective listening, verbal, and written communication skills.Preferred Qualifications:Working knowledge of Ellucian Banner and ARMS software;Prior experience with NCAA applications (e.g., LSDBi, RSRO, CA);NCAA Division I/II compliance related experience on campus, at the NCAA national office, in a conference office setting, or legal experience; andExperience with financial aid.
