Qualifications
In order to qualify for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level (GG-13) level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience is defined as experience that demonstrates thorough knowledge and understanding of enterprise IT infrastructure concepts, architectures and solutions needed to effectively design, develop, implement, operate and maintain agency systems in the areas of compute/storage, virtualization, operating systems, database, disaster recovery, cloud environments, remote access solutions, network management tools, capacity analysis, network architecture, and IT security.

Education
Candidates may qualify for the 2210, Information Technology Management Series by meeting the Experience requirements specified in the Qualifications section of this announcement.
Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

The duty location of this position is Rockville, Maryland. In general, employees are expected to be in the office at a minimum of 4 days per pay period**. Telework schedules, including full-time telework, are approved, on a case-by-case basis. If selected, telework will be determined in accordance with Agency policy and the Collective Bargaining Agreement, if applicable.

As a Senior Information Technology Specialist, you will be responsible for:
- Analyzing, planning, development, integration, oversight and operations/maintenance of compute and storage environments and the related server and database platforms built on those environments.
- Managing related daily operations, and disaster recovery (DR) operations, across all hosting environments.
- Leading all planning aspects (new solutions, solution configuration, operational processes, interoperability, DR) of the related technology solutions, services, and platforms, e.g., Virtual Machines (VMs), Microsoft (MS) Servers, Red Hat Linux Servers, MS Active Directory, MS SQL Database, and equivalent Azure services.
- Supporting the design, implementation, and operations of enterprise storage solutions, backup solutions, and application hosting environments, e.g., Dell VxRail, Commvault; VMware, Azure cloud.

- Demonstrated advanced knowledge and experience of the principles and theory of enterprise IT management
- Example: Describe specific experience of recent comprehensive experience being a project lead for planning, integrating, and deploying enterprise level solutions on-prem, in the cloud, or in hybrid hosting environments in one or more of the following technical area(s): compute and storage; database and system; remote access; or disaster recovery. Additionally, describe recent activities completed to support the operations and maintenance of one or more of those solution areas.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate information, ideas and advice in a clear, concise and logical manner, both orally and in writing to both internal and external organization.
- Example: Describe work experience, training, or other activities that demonstrate your ability to communicate ideas and advice in a clear concise and logical manner. Provide examples of assignments that reflect your ability to provide advice, guidance, and consultation to management and staff at all levels. Describe an activity where you brought a team together to assess technical solution options and agree on a path forward. Describe any presentations you have given (include their purpose and size of audience). Provide examples of documents you have authored or co-authored to explain and support strategies, alternatives, policies, or major initiatives for IT planning to internal or external organizations.
- Knowledge of information technology issues unique to Federal agencies and other large scientific, technical, or legal organizations, and actions required to mitigate or resolve these problems.
- Example: Describe specific work experience and training which demonstrates your knowledge of information technology with respect to business needs and requirements specific to Federal agencies and other large scientific, technical, or legal organizations. Provide examples of any technical white papers, assessments, pilots, or prototypes that you have authored. Provide examples of project management assignments which demonstrate your ability to assess technical issues and provide feasible solutions.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience dealing effectively with system owners for the purpose of understanding their requirements, negotiating conflicting views, assessing tradeoffs in user needs, performance, and cost considerations, and providing guidance to contractors in development and review of specifications and system functionality.
- Example: Demonstrated recent comprehensive experience (at least five years) dealing effectively with system owners, application owners, or product owners. Examples shall reflect applicant's ability to understand system user requirements, negotiate conflicting views, and to assess tradeoffs in user needs. Examples shall provide evidence that the applicant was also effective in providing guidance to contractors in the development and review of specifications and system functionality.
